Jollan

Second Emperor of Belahir Jollan

The second born son of Belahir, a skilled magician and swordsman who blended the two arts into one, using it to fight monsters during the Universal War. He was the son of Belahir and brother of Hickol, learning magic from them, and swordsmanship from school, blending them through experiment himself. After Belahir was founded, he became the crown prince, and when Belahir died, he became the emperor.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

He was known to be a prime specimen of mortals, physically intimidating and strong.

Apparel & Accessories

He carried many magical items.  Among these were a sword, a helm, boots, gauntlets, tunic, and rings.   Sword of Casting: Was attributed with the ability to deliver spells into an opponent when they were injured with the sword.   Helm of Sight: allowed him to see slightly into the future, by his description a mere microsecond, and react to it.   Boots of Blinking: allowed him to teleport.   Gauntlets of Siphoning and Gifting: these two gauntlets allowed him to together heal himself by damaging his opponents and sacrifice somebody of his health to heal another person.   Tunic of Ghosting: granted him the ability to phase out of the material plane if he was in mortal danger, allowing one great attack to miss him, but was only effective once per day.   Ring of Shielding: granted him a magical shield that protected him.  It was one of his first creations and is said to be the weakest.   Ring of  Truth: allowed him to force another to tell the truth.  This was made originally because he was having difficulty during his time as emperor with determining whiny was the guilty party in a dispute, but found use when some monsters would shapeshift to try and take him by surprise.   Ring of Protection: the only one he would wear all the time, it alerted him if any city he had marked with the seal on the ring was attacked.  The ring did not tell him which, however.

Personal history

He was born into a poor Dragonborn household, with two skilled magicians, Hickol and Belahir, and learned the basics of magic from observing those two. He enrolled in the same school as his brother and was advanced in magic enough that he knew most of the material well enough, but not enough to skip the grade, so he spent most of his first year dropping in on the swordsmanship classes, at first because he was barred from the second year's spellcasting classes due to potential haywire spells, and to see what he considered a load of people bashing each other with sticks. The instructor allowed him to drop in, and his opinion soon changed and he started respecting swordsmanship as an art equal to magic. The next year, he petitioned the school to let him take both swordsmanship and magic lessons, but the school refused. So, he decided to have his family homeschool him in magic, while learning swordsmanship at the school. He dropped out of magic classes and petitioned the school to let him skip one year of swordsmanship, but was turned down, since he was not on record for taking that year. During that first year he was paired off with a rich Human sparring partner who received extensive private tutoring. They used most of their time in class sparring and ignoring the instructor, his partner using these duels to lord over this Dragonborn, who he saw as inferior, and eventually Jollan started to mix in magic into his fighting, which the instructor allowed. He spent the rest of the years learning, sparring and exercising. When he graduated, he immediately applied for the army, but was turned down. He spent the following years getting stronger and more skilled, repeatedly re-applying, even after his brother Hickol died, but was never accepted. When his father went East to the new continent, Jollan went with him, and spent his time under his father's rule getting more powerful, expanding the empire and getting more powerful, crafting powerful magic items. When his father died he initially made terrible decisions, losing a few towns, and soon decided he was unfit to rule, so he found a spell that allowed his father to take care of matters of state even when dead, and resumed his role that he had before he was emperor.
