Abraham DuSable
We can find out many things, all it will cost will be just a little bit of blood
Embraced by former Chicago Tremere Chantry Regent and Primogen, Nikolai, many thought that DuSable would be heir apparent for the Primogen chair if Nikolai ever were to vacate the seat for whatever reason. This would dramatically change during the Council led era of Chicago.
For whatever reason, Nikolai sent DuSable away to the frontlines of a conflict with mortal mages, under the guise of learning more of the thaumaturgical arts. This experience would seemingly change DuSable from those that knew him before. He became colder, more detached - clinical even. But, perhaps, most dangerous of all, he was driven.
It was not long after DuSable's return that Nikolai met his end in Vienna when the Second Inquisition raided the Prime Chantry - decimating the pyramid. Many would think that DuSable would take his sire's seat as Reagent and Primogen. Although DuSable was welcomed back in Elysium, he was told that, "most regrettably," the Tremere could no longer count themselves among Chicago's Primogen. With this blow, at least DuSable should have had the Regency as a second prize - that too would be ripped from him.
Due to her connections with then Prince of Chicago, Kevin Jackson, Erictho wormed her way into naming herself Regent of Chicago Chantry and liaison between Camarilla and Anarch - though remaining ultimately neutral and independent. While the neutrality would mean they would not have as much influence over the city, it would offer Chicago's Tremere more freedom and secrecy to experiment with blood magic. This secrecy and separation would deepen when Erictho suddenly stopped communicating with contacts on both Anarch and Camarilla sides. The Chantry became a silent mysterious shadow within Chicago - offering their services to whoever was brave enough to entry Hyde Park Chantry's doors.
Abraham DuSable has become the face of Chicago's Chantry. He acts as the Regent all but in name. He claims that Erictho is busy on important business, however it does not take a huge leap of logic to see this for the facade it could be.
DuSable has crossed paths with most notorious coteries that have been active in modern nights Chicago. His supposed childe, the Sabbat Garwood Marshall, was the sire of member of the Undecided Coterie, J.R. As such, DuSable had attempted to groom the young neonate. Though this would be for naught as J.R. would find a more suitable alliance with then Regent Erictho. Just like Erictho, J.R. has not been seen as of late, the coincidence not lost on those in the know.
The Regent would have a number of exchanges with the coterie that would become the Asylum Coterie. Perhaps most of note was after Ace had committed diablerie while under the thrall of the Crawling Tongue on Mateo Garcia. He would tell Ace that his blood had become stronger and he was no longer a Caitiff, taking on his sire's bloodline, Brujah.
Ace's new coterie, the Young Undead, would be granted access to the Chantry to request assistance in finding out who Trinity's sire is. DuSable would bargain with Trinity and take her vitae to experiment with. He would later send Sun Che to tell Trinity what he had discovered. Unfortunately, obscure rituals had been seemingly conducted over her, obscuring her sire's identity. Though he would extend the hand to assist further if she would request.
Perhaps most mysterious of all is his connection with the 'neonate' Portia. Few piece together the oddity of the Toreador's presence in Chicago's Chantry. But when you do, the line of questioning leads to DuSable. He has proven that he is aware of Portia's higher than usual station. Though the depth of his awareness is currently up for debate, is he working with Portia to a unified purpose? Or does she have the warlock wrapped around her finger like she does many in Chicago and beyond?
