The Diamond Tears of Bichael is a colloquial term for the magical phenomenon which shrowded the nation of Hindland after the reported death of Bichael the Diviner.
The effects of the phenomenon mean that long distance magical transportation does not work in the affected area, unless aided by line-of-sight.
It also has a chilling effect on most forms of scrying, making them much less effective. In addition, long distance magical communication, like sending and telepathy, is severely limited.
It is believed that this was a "gift" bestowed upon the resistance of Hindland that would enable them to have an advantage against their unseen enemies.
It is believed that this effect is a powerful spell, though given its apparent indeterminate duration and large area of effect, it is the result of extremely powerful, unknown magic.

It is conjectured that the unique rock formations of the city of Aletheia were used as a material component in this spell, due to their similar properties. It's also conjectured that there is some continual "power" maintaining the spell focus of this effect.

Due to the limitations placed on common magical transportation, alternate instantaneous travel methods emerged withtin the nation of Hindland. It was discovered that teleportation between two fixed magical portals still functioned. This saw the rise of a popular portal travel network within the nation.
