The Democratic-Republic of the United States of America was founded by the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It's current form of government was established in 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution.  The U.S. as it is often known is comprised of three branches-the Judicial, the Legislative, and the Executive. These three branches form a checks and balances to varying levels of success. With the Constitution and the three branches intending to limit the power of the federal and state governments to infringe on the freedoms of the citizenry, while allowing the government the power to enforce the rights and safety of it's citizenry.    The Presidency is currently held by President Fred Thompson and his Vice President George W. Bush both of the Constitution Party.   The Supreme Court is currently 2 Liberal Judges to 7 Conservative Judges, Both liberal judges were nominated by Democrats, 4 of the conservative judges were nominated by Republicans, and the remaining 3 conservative judges were nominated by Constitutionalists.    The House of Representatives is led by House Speaker Louie Gohmert from Texas of the Constitution Party. The House currently is led by a coalition of The Constitution Party and Republican Party. The Constitution Party has 144 seats, the Republican Party has 100 seats, the Democratic Party has 100 seats, the Alliance Party has 90 seats, and the Socialist Party has 11 seats.   The Senate is led by Senate Majority leader John Thune Constitution Party Senator from South Dakota. The Senate is currently led by a coalition of The Constitution Party and the Republican Party. The Constitution Party has 38 seats, The Republican Party has 26 seats, the Democratic Party has 25 seats, the Alliance Party has 8 seats, and the Socialist Party has 3 seats.
