The Constitution Party

The Constitution Party was born out of a Republican dispute on the election of Barry Goldwater as Republican nominee for the 1972 election. The Constitution Party is a Constitutional pledged group that has Conservative and Libertarian streaks. The Constitution Party has three main factions-the Libertarian Faction, the Purist Faction, and the Legacy Faction. All three factions have roughly equal power within the overall party. The Libertarian Faction very much believes in hands-off government and very limited federal influence. The Purist faction is very focused on maintaing the American culture, American values, and America first policies. The Legacy faction tends to be more in-line with traditional Republicans, but have either much harder 1st amendment concerns or 2nd amendment rights concerns.  The Libertarian factions is led by Senators Ron Paul and Rand Paul of Texas and Kentucky. The Purist faction is led by President Fred Thompson, Senator Jacob Alexander of Pennsylvania, and House Speaker-Representative Sarah Palin of Alaska. The Legacy factions is led by Vice-President George W. Bush, Senator Alice Veere of Florida, and Representative Patricia Niathe of Utah.
