Predator Island

The island is a source of much speculation and myth, and any mention of it in official documents is always censored. Little is publicly know about the island. Officially it is designated as a federal district, making it part of no province, with direct control of the island being split between the navy and army.   On paper the island is used for military training and off limits to the public for safety concerns due to the wildlife, however the truth many know but is often derided as conspiracy theory is that it is a prison island, a gulag unlike any other in Woodangees. In a country where crime is often punished by forced farm labor, military conscription, and sometimes simply being shot, those considered the worst criminals in Woodangees, those who have comited henious acts or whose crimes targeted children or animals, are abandoned on Predator Island.   The inmates of predator island must fend off the wildlife, each other, and occasional raids by the army, or firing tests from the navy, to try to survive. Any caught trying to escape are hunted and retrieved or killed.   3 letters stored in bottles have come ashore from Predator Island and have become known to the public. All of these letters detail the horrific conditions and struggles of the inhabitants, anarchy, murders, and two of them mentioning cannibalism. The government of Woodangees has officially denied the validity of these letters.

Geography

Predator island is a very small island to the west of Ontangees. The actual island is roughly 30 square miles, but is surrounded by jagged rocks, ship wrecks, and the ruins of an abandoned Ontangian naval structure that has begun sinking into the sea. To add to its ominous nature the rocks on one side are carved to resemble a skull, as ordered by Arch Duke Grid of Ontangees over a century ago, when the island was an Ontangian military fortification.

Fauna & Flora

Predator island has earned its name, being home to a plethora of dangerous animals, from the poisonous Kac Lizard to the Cyra Fly, which can burrow into skin and deposit parasitic larva, to the White Tipped Reef Shark, known to infest the nearby waters.

History

Predator Island has a dark and sorted history. The Arch-Dutchy of Ontangees claimed ownership of the island in 1774, after years of it being left uninhabited due to the hostile nature of its wildlife. Ontangees would abandon their fortifications in 1782 only to begin dropping off undesirables, mostly criminals that were deemed deserving of suffering. When the Kingdom of Woodangees unified, the crown took direct control of the island, keeping it as a prison island.

Tourism

Access to the island is strictly forbidden, and boats that sail too close often find themselves suddenly in the presence of Woodangian naval ships.
