Oil

Oil is a major resource to Woodangees ever since the deposits were first discovered. While Woodangees has strict environmental laws, the Woodangian Oil Company was established to drill, extract, and refine crude oil into useable fuel. Oil and gas production have become a major aspect of the Woodangian economy and culture, with Woodangees using it to become entirely fuel independent, exporting only the excess and keeping most as national reserves.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Oil is a slick black liquid.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Slick and flammable

Geology & Geography

Oil is found in Ontangees, Niccadia, and Tynica

Life & Expiration

Crude oil is millions of years old however refined gasoline has a shelf life of somewhere between three and six months.

History & Usage

Discovery

Oil was discovered in the swamps of Ontangees and Niccadia several decades ago, but these reserves have been difficult to reach and drill, however with the semi recent discovery of underwater deposits off the coast of Niccadia and Tynica have greatly increased production.

Manufacturing & Products

Woodangian oil is used to produce Gasoline.

Hazards

Oil is Highly Flammable and it's refined variant gasoline produces noxious fumes.

Environmental Impact

Woodangees takes all the steps it can to ensure the environmental impact of oil drilling is minimal, but not even the Environmental Conservation Organization can prevent all issues, and oil drilling and refinment have increased pollution in Woodangees.

Distribution

Storage

Oil in it's crude form is stored in barrels, and in it's refined form it is stored in tanks.

Law & Regulation

The laws regarding oil and fuel are strict. special safety precautions must be taken when transporting and storing the material. Any drill must also follow regulations to reduce their impact on the local wildlife and ecosystem. The governmental body ECO (Environmental Conservation Organization) is responsible for enforcing any regulations on the oil industry.
