Vampire Hunter Profession in Wolf Mania | World Anvil

Codex

Vampire Hunter

The Oracles of the Burning Eye saw vampires as a problematic, vile species that should not exist. For a long period of time, the Oracles had a subsect group called "vampire hunter," or vampire hunting, until the title fell out of power due to vampires becoming "extinct" thanks to the efforts of brave men.

Career

Qualifications

For one to become a vampire hunter, one must be a male and of peak physical health. Women are deemed nurturing and natural mothers; they must tend to the young and make sure they grow up strong, like their fathers.

Perception

Purpose

A hunter had one sole purpose -- hunt down any vampire they heard about. Once a target has been made, the hunt could never stop until that vampire was slain, even at the cost of the hunter's life.

Social Status

Everyone who signed up as a hunter was given a luxurious lifestyle. They had a fancy home with servants and were even invited to nobility parties. Often enough, the hunters wanted nothing to do with such frivolous wants. Instead, they focused on collecting new weapons, poisons, and a variety of other trinkets to help them with killing vampires.

Operations

Tools

Hunters often had a wide collection of tools at their disposal. They were famously known for using garlic and silver-coated weapons. Although, hunters would also use a type of liquid called "Death's Breath," a poison used to kill vampires made from the blood of a dead person and silver.

Dangers & Hazards

Hunters are taught right out of the gate about the dangers that follow vampire hunting. Stalking a vampire can easily lead to the vampire learning of their pursuer and they may even return the favor by capturing the hunter. Sometimes, the vampire will slay the hunter and leave their remains for the Oracles to find.
