The Lion of Midnight

An angel of holy fire, and the offspring of the goddess Aliossa, who freed the ancient peoples of Isakar from the abyssal tyrant Qui Taaq during the Age of Heroes

The Second Flame

The Lion of Midnight (in the native Kartheeni tongue, it's loosely translates to "Phenri Ly' Eusi") was a legendary hero from the Age of Heroes and is revered as one of The Four Greats. According to mythology, he could shift shape into many forms but his most memorable description is that of a ebony lion with golden scars that, when struck, produced flames as like that of the sun.   He's remembered as the Queen Goddess Aliossa's only child and is beloved as a martyr to the native Kartheeni for his sacrifice against the monstrous beast, Qui Taaq. He may be referred to as the "Second Son" (in reference to the Fall of the Phoenix) when Aliossa chose him as her new champion or in literal terms as "The Second Sun" in that he rose the sun in the Phoenix's place.   Many western texts acknowledge his existence and his death but the promise of his resurrection appears limited to word of mouth among his staunchest followers.
"But in dreams, her landscapes were made of more vibrant colors -- of violets and heavenly cerulean, shielded by blues so brilliant that their visage alone rivaled the beauty of Aliossa's own night sky. And it was always there she saw the man, the shadow beast donning a cloak painted with the glittering trails of the lost stars that travelled in the endlessness of heaven's road. And when his hand ran through his hair, starlight fell in droplets to the earth. Her Lion with whom she danced with, in dreams so beautiful."
Abdessi of Karth, Priestess of Karine (Prologue: The Love of the Sun and the Moon)

The Wickerworn Babe

According to Isakari legends, the Lion's story began soon after the Fall of the Phoenix, which began the 1st Dark Age within the Hemos. The sun closed her eye and things once shielded from mankind revealed themselves in malicious horror. This series of darkness would start of the Age of Heroes when the goddess Sicaridae finished her first web between the mortal realm and the immortal realm through a gate opened in the 8th Hall. This is also the first recorded instance of a gateway between The Above and The Below that allowed malicious entities and banished demons to travel between the human world and spread their evil in the the world.   Around the time that the demigod Ruther the Red wandered from the sea in the west, the Lion of Midnight was conceived when Aliossa's tears turned to fire that struck a black wicker tree and the bark shriveled apart to reveal the scarred child inside. The Lion was nursed by the fruit the once barren tree bore and under the light of the stars, he spoke to his Mother and learned of the folly of his brother, the Phoenix.

The Second Coming

His life was not easy as the young lion was bore not only the will of man but the wisdom of gods, and the two halves were constantly at odds with one another. Yet unlike the Phoenix who eventually fell to his wicked nature, the Lion instead chose to righteous path.   Although the Lion of Midnight would ultimately vanquish the abyssal demon, it would be at the cost of his mortal body which freed his eternal spirit to return home to his mother Aliossa. But many Kartheeni believe that in a new Era, he will return into a new body to once again free the Isakar from a great evil.
