Node

Nodes are connection points for computers and other such hardware that allow for localized connections amongst communities. Based on the design and machinations of the Wardenclyffe Tower, Nodes have become a common staple throughout the world, often allowing for people to share data and information amongst one-another seamlessly and easily without any hiccups or restrictions.

Common Setup

A Node is composed of two main components: The Tower Relay component and The Node Program.

The Tower Relay

The Tower Relay is the main connection point for a Node, oftentimes established in one centralized area. These Towers are dedicated pieces of hardware that run 24/7, acting as a data center for storage and communications. Once a Tower Relay is set up, people can begin connecting to it and establishing a network within the region. The size of the Node is dependent on the amount of people that are connected to it-- a connection of which can be limited either by distance from the node, or by system administrators that can be assigned to the Tower Relay at any point.

These Towers, with the right perephrials added, can further connect to the Internet at large, though this does not allow for people greater than the distance allowed by the Node to access it, oftentimes due to the stress this would put on the Node's connection services.

The Node Program

The Node Program itself is how you connet to these Towers. It can be run anytime, with it oftentimes being set to run on the computer's start up. When the program is connected to a tower, all computers connected to it will end up sharing the storage devices on them. They all effectively combine into one massive storage database, which anyone on the tower can access and use. This allows people to be able to share games, work files, movies, books, and much more amongst their communities without issue. In a post Withering world, this has proven to be very effective for many people who wish to remain isolated within their homes.

History

The concept of Nodes would be conceptualized soon after the construction and activation of Nikola Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower in 1905. With the advent of the Wardenclyffe Tower soon after the turn of the century, it brought about a great advancement in technology, partly fueled by the recent discoveries made in part due to The Bloom. The Wardenclyffe Tower allowed for transmissions and wireless power exchange across the globe, allowing for a much faster form of data transmission.

Soon afterward, schematics for a miniaturized version of the Wardenclyffe Tower were drawn up by Nikola Tesla. These schematics, originally called Relay Points, were obtained by the Deepcore Foundation, which they would then keep on hand, as the technology needed for miniaturized versions of Relay Points was simply not advanced enough. This would change in the late 1900s, when computers became common household objects. FOSSURA would be the first piece of hardware that would allow for the development of these Relay Points-- then renamed into Nodes.

As someone who loves being isolated at home, I love nodes.
