Tilda Greenhome Character in Witch World | World Anvil

Tilda Greenhome

Tilda Greenhome is owner of Bits and Bobs general store in High rannoc. She has been the owner for the last five years ever since her grandmother passed away and left it to her. Her parents had both died in an accident while crossing carawall lake, and her Grandmother had raised her since she was nine years old. She was twenty two when her grandmother died and she inherited the shop.   She is a tall willowy woman with lightly tanned skin and a brushing of freckles across her nose and cheeks. her eyes are a pale bue and tilt up slightly at the outer edges. Her hair is a a mass of reddish brown curls which fall down around her face and bounce and sway as she moves. She was a quiet child, fond of reading and exploring the quiet spots in and around the village. When her parents died, she turned even more to her books become more and more withdrawn.   Her grandmother was worried about her and tried to encourage the young girl to spend more time with young people her age, but she didn't want to force it and make her even more unhappy. Eventually the local witch at the time suggested rhat she get her a pet, her grandmother wasn't sure about having an animal about the place but eventually relented and got tilda a young kitten.   It didn't take long for the youn michievious felin to work it's magic on the girl. She worked hard to look after her pet and often talked to it. This seemed to be good for her, as she hadn't spoken much about her parents death to anyone. but she felt like she could talk to the cat, and it didn't really answer back.   Tilda was still a quiet person but she seemed much happier and even made friends with a couple of the other children from school, who also had pets. She did well at scool as she was a studious sort, and although her teachers suggested she could easily get into one of the universities in the big city, she had no real desire to leave her hometown.   She wasn't close to many people and all those she was close to were here. So when she left school she chose to help her grandmother out in the shop as she was getting old and fibnding it hard to do a lot of things these days. By trhe time her grandmother finally passed away peacefully in her sleep, Tilda was practically running the shop already, so it was easy for her take over fully. She missed her Grandmother terribly but had learned to handle loss a little better by now. She always seems to adopt any stray cats that appear in the village. It's not that she actively tries to seek them out, it is simply that they seem to find themselves there.   Since she took over she has modernised the shop a little, putting in a new till and rearranging the stock into more appealing displays. her oldest friend, Jonathan, is an outgoing sort and his family are quite successful traders. he has helped Tilda to expand the stock she has to offer, and helped her get some good deals on some rare items.
