Mousefolk Forager Profession in Witch World | World Anvil

Mousefolk Forager

Foragers have one of the more important roles within Mousefolk society as they are responsible for finding and gathering sources of food within the surrounding woodlands. All young Mousefolk are taught the things that are safe to eat in the woodlands and which things can make you sick or even kill you, but foragers also need to know the seasons of the various plants and fruits and where best to find them.   New recruits do most of their learning out in the field, as Mousefolk consider the best way to learn is through experience. Once a Mousefolk has reached adulthood they generally choose the trade which they wish to go into. All Mousefolk must do their bit to help out the town and make sure they all have enough to eat. many a brave young mousefolk has thought to join the ranks of the foragers but it it is a dangerous and hard job ans not all of them have what it takes.   Those who make the best foragers tend to be those who have the keenest sense of smell and are usually fast and nimble, this allows them to snatch tasty morsels before another creature can. Foragers don't always collect everything they find. Sometimes if they find a particularly good patch of something, they will send a message back to the town and most of the town will come out to help harvest. This is especially true the closer it gets to winter, and the harder it becomes to find food.
