Gulpers Bog

In a misty hollow deep in the Sildrak forest lies Gulpers Bog, so named for both the sounds it makes and also the fact it can swallow a person whole. It covers an area of about one square mile, and is one of the most deceptively dangerous places in the forest. A mist always seems to linger in this place, sometimes thicker than others but always clinging to the pools. A wet bogland Gulpers bog is known as somwewhere to avoid. The ground can look completely solid and then suck you down as soon as you step in it. The water logged ground hides deep pools under floating patches of moss and grass. Trees still grow here in this place, twisted willows and alders, their branches hanging down like grasping fingers.
There is always a cold chill over this place, no matter how warm the day, if you stumble into this place it will take only seconds for the cold to start settling into your bones. The chill settles around you and lingers long after you have left its clutches. The very air is cold and clammy and smells slightly of rot and decay and will soak you in minutes, whether it is raining or not.
It is not just the treacherous terrain that makes this place so dangerous, for there are creatures which lurk here that are far more dangerous. Giant toadlike creatures that will swallow you whole, fish with razor sharp teeth that will cut you ribbons in no time. And then there are the undead which are said to haunt this place. Sprits that will lure you into the deep pools and then drown you beneath the cold water.
