Guilds of Whistletop

While the Commander of the Keep is responsible for safety of the city and its citizens, the Guilds are responsible for the city upkeep and it's day to day running. Each Guild appoints a representative who sits on a council which oversees things, the Commander also sits on this council although he only has a say if the safety of the city is in question.  

Miners Guild

Responsible for all mines owned by the city of Whistletop. This includes ensuring safe working conditions for the miners, prospecting for new sources of stone and ores, and managing exports and taxes of raw mined resources. They also research new mining techniques.  

Farmers Guild

Responsible for ensuring the city has enough food to feed its population, and determining how any excess food is exported. They regulate crop growth and determine which crops are needed the most. They must also manage the cities food stores and handle the imports of any food sources they can't farm for themselves.  

Mason's Guild

They are responsible for the upkeep of the city's buildings and work closely with the woodworkers guild to make sure all public buildings are kept in good condition. They also determine where new buildings are allowed to be erected and see to the demolishing of any buildings which have become unsafe due to damage or age.  

Forestry Guild

They manage the sections of the Sildrak forest which Whistletop has laid claim to. They are responsible for the safety of the woodcutters and determine where logging should take place. They are also responsible for reforestation as they understand the importance of woodland and ensure that they try to replace what they take away. They also deal with lumber exports.  

Woodcrafters Guild

Responsible alongside the masons guild for maintaining the upkeep of the city's buildings, the woodcrafters guild also deals with worked wood exports and employs all wood workers in the city.
