Carawall Lake

Geography

Carawall Lake is the largest lake in the Cauldmoon Basin and also the most tempestuous. It is one hundred and twenty three miles long and 92 miles at it's widest. It is dotted with many islands, some of which are inhabited, and some which are no more than a few square feet of rocky protrusion. Due to its size the geography of its shorelines vary dramatically: craggy hills, rolling hills, thick forest, swamps and marshes, and gently rising grassland, can all be found surrounding the lake.

Localized Phenomena

A peculiarity of the lake are it currents, which shift and change over the seasons. Though not as unpredictable as the weather, you still need to have sailed the lake for several years to learn the shifting patterns. Even then there are still sections which even the most experienced sailor fear to traverse, especially around the Jaws, a grouping of close islands and half submerged rocks. Here the waters can form swift eddies and even small whirlpools, which can smash a ship up against any number of jagged rocks which litter this section of the lake

Climate

There are many places where the people joke about having their own weather system, for Carawall Lake this is no joke. It is impossible to know what kind of weather you will run into out on the lake until you have set sail and gotten at least a mile from shore. Dense fog banks, raging winds, hailstorms, and more, can spring up at any time. Or you could have clear skies and brisk winds for the whole journey.
