The Dawn Council

The Order of the Roses (originally the Dawn Council) is an ancient organization founded by the gods before the Dawn War. The Order was created midway through the rule of the gods to quell the squabbles common to the relatively new mortal races. To the public, it was a council which informed the gods of the whims of mortals, but in practice, the Roses simply executed the will of the gods in matters they deemed beneath themselves. In exchange for their service and their silence, the gods gave the Roses power and immortality, essentially making them demigods. Additionally, the intense pressure to perform due to the ever-present threat of replacement drove any well-meaning Roses insane. After their gods abandoned them following the war, the Roses spent their days attempting to uphold the gods' glory and regaining their demi-godhood. Seeing that the world moved on without them just fine, many fell even deeper into insanity. The few still alive are shells of their former selves, and inhabit undead bodies. Their roses, however, remain perfectly intact.

Structure

Every god has a representative on the Dawn Council. Each Rose is designated by a rose colored according to their god which they always keep somewhere on their person. The Roses all adopt the title of 'Sir' or 'Dame' depending on gender, but also one specific to their role: '[blank] of the Gods'.

Public Agenda

The Order's current plan is to charge a set of power crystals. Once charged, they will use the crystals to obtain the elemental keys to undo the gods' banishment.

Assets

The Roses have festered for over a millennium, so they rely on their expansive list of lich magic. Of note are spell which possess mortal beings and create the power crystals themselves.

History

Their original purpose was to represent the populations of each god on an elevated council. While the gods were mostly ambivalent to the activities of mortals, they gave a passing thought to the Council. Since their fall, the survivors have become fanatics obsessed with returning Wisteria to its natural rule of gods.

Disbandment

While the Order had been revered since its creation, the position of Rose was so coveted that many mortals resorted to infighting to attain membership. Soon after this development, the Order became associated with secrecy and espionage, which eventually led to the Dawn War. Immediately following the @Dawn War, the mortal races founded the Keepers to stand against the elitism and secrecy of the Order. This forced the Roses into hiding and they were essentially outlawed
