Holy Scrolls

The Holy Scrolls are a bunch of documents distributed throughout the Kingdoms of Vimerias by the High Pope and the Church. These documents are used as propaganda by the Church to go against the King and gain favour with the people. It reminds the people of the Gods and how to honour them, and the punishments for not respecting them. Some of these scrolls may also detail rewards for giving over your child to the Church to live a life in devotion of the Gods.   The scrolls distributed are written on linen cloth paper, however, the Church have their own library full of these scrolls and these formal ones are written on vellum.

Purpose

The purpose of these documents is to remind the people of the importance of the Gods and to against the King and gain favour.

Document Structure

Clauses

There are more than one document laid out in the series of these scrolls. One speaks of the Gods and opens by detailing how to honour them everday. It then goes on to explain the punishments for not honouring and following them. A second document explains how sending your child to the Church can give you peace of mind and your child can live a life worthy of the Gods and live spreading their light. Both of these documents are decorated with elaborate paintings of the gods and altars.

Caveats

If you do not follow the Gods you will live a life of darkness and when you pass, your children will follow in dark paths and your legacy will be ruined. If you proclaim to follow this pantheon and do not honour the Gods everyday in all the proper ways you are considered an insult to the Church and they have the right to take your assets and excommunicate you across the sea.

Publication Status

The document is purposely publicly accessible.

Legal status

The Kingdom is under conflict between the Church and the King so these documents may or may not be seen as legal. Under the King's rule they are not valid, yet the High Pope is growing in power and has many people loyal to him that can follow up with consequences.
