Crystal Elmetain Namedays

Birthdays in Elmetain culture are different to those of most humans. This page describes how these important celebrations are carried out in the Crystal Elmetain culture.   A Crystal Elm does not celebrate the day of their birth. Instead they celebrate their naming day until they discover their first crystal. From this point on, they are given a new name that suits their personality and each year the day on which they discovered said crystal is celebrated. Their celebrations are not grand, they are small and simple and filled with joy. This usually means family, food, nature and prayer.

History

The history of celebrating the name day instead of birth day comes from ancient Elmetain culture back from the days of their great city. This is common throughout the majority of the Elmetain cultures, exceptions being those that have integrated closely with humans.   Beyond this, it is not known where they got the inspiration for this custom.

Execution

These celebrations are simple yet beautiful. They usually spend the morning praying as a family to the crystal and throwing pieces of crystals (of the same name) into the lake of stars. They will follow with a moderate lunch of nutritious and delicate foods. The afternoon is left to the special person for whatever they wish. A common activity that may be carried out alone or with family is to walk through the forest and go exploring.
