Bag of Wheat

A bag of wheat is a common item used as a secret symbol in Doranor. When noble people are in a room together and want to be left alone or not disturbed by servants they may place a bag of wheat outside the door.   The commoners/servants believe this is a small offering for people not to enter, however, it means the noble is usually keeping secrets and/or up to no good. When digging to the bottom of the wheat bag, pearls and other expensive jewellery may be found in exchange for silence.   This strange custom is not known outside of these houses, and is a well kept secret between nobles and servants. Servants don’t mingle with commoners much so they don’t get the chance to spread too much, besides it wouldn’t be in their best interest.    This custom may seem horrid and downright terrible, however, servants are usually paid with food and clothes only, so to get extra grain and jewels is extremely helpful to them.   There are few nobles who may outlaw this practice in their home/lands as they are men of honour unlike others, though this is rare as most of the nobles like to get up to no good without interruption.   If a servant is heard spreading the truth, they may suddenly disappear.   Some servants may grow greedy and get paid by other nobles in return for their master’s secrets. The servant will get double jewellery.
