Mortavar
A small but well fortified settlement on the banks of the Ivory Lake and Boreal Omen River, Mortavar is the southernmost outpost for Uthodurn. Most of the settlement is built into the cliffside and the bridge across the rivermouth, and it has a robust river harbour with a small fleet of boats and ferries. Extensions of the settlement are built out from the riverbank on floating pontoons, connecting some of the larger islets in the river that host rustic fishing huts.
The settlement is in the shadow of the ancient bridge that spans the river, connecting the Savalirwood roads to the Floket Alps and onwards north towards Uthodurn. The bridge was built by the elvish empire of the Wildlands many centuries ago, while the gatehouses and village were built by Uthodurn when reclaiming it some two hundred or so years ago.
The Ivory Lake
Fed by the annual snow melt and heavy rains that wash across the Flotket Alps, Ivory Lake is the largest source of standing fresh water in the region. Many creatures throughout the Rime Plains make their way to the lake during the summer when the waters are thawed and the fish are plentiful. The banks of the lake are dangerous for smaller beasts and humanoids alike, as wyverns and other predators lie in wait to gorge on unsuspecting travelers.
