Backstories

  • Faelynn (Pheonix):
Faelynn was born in the city of Gwardan to a large merchant family as the youngest child. Her father Gunther had always encouraged her from a young age never to be afraid to cause a small bit of mischief every now and again much to her mother Gueniverre's distaste. As she grew up her siblings distanced themselves from her because unlike the rest of the family she had ivory hair and golden eyes instead of the dark hair and green eyes that they all shared. Her parents always told her that this was because she was meant to be someone important and that she had been marked by the gods. Despite her siblings being distant to her she didn't let that bother her too badly as she had made a few good friends growing up but the closest of them were her friend Nicolai. Nicolai was the son of the bookstore's owner and as they grew into their teenage years they both began to practice and study the arcane. Both having natural skill at magic the two decided to convince their families to let them leave for Nicodranas so that they would be able to attend Mystos Academy of Wizardry. After a bit of convincing they were allowed to leave under the protection of some of the Golden Chain mercenaries taking them from Gwardan to Port Damali. Once they arrived in Port Damali they booked passage on a ship to Nicodranas. The journey had been peaceful until a storm descended upon them. During the commotion and the harsh weather a rogue wave struck the ship washing Nicolai overboard into the murky blackness of the Lucidian Ocean. Reaching the shores of Nicodranas Faelynn threw herself into her studies for the first few months of her time there.   Over the next few years she would come to know the members of the group she is travelling with, as well as graduating form Mystos Academy of Wizardry. Some of the relationships were difficult to forge amongst these new individuals but eventually she managed to become friends with them as they shared adventures.
  • Ulysses Eugene (Sky):
Ulysses Eugene is the eldest brother of the Eugene brothers. He is often referred to as "The Face" of the two brothers, though this is only by default. Growing up in a religious household, when his parents died at a young age, he revoked religion, dedicating himself to science. Ulysses is the kind of man who has few close friends, and isn't interested in making more. This is not to say he is not a kind man, quite the opposite. Ulysses, in his youth, would spend days wandering the streets, looking for individuals who were struggling and offer them wealth, healing, food, whatever he could provide. That bout said, the people he cares about, he cares about deeply, and those he doesn't care about, well, they may as well be dead to him. He is most protective of his younger brother, who he makes the vast majority of his supplies for. If his brother gets into an argument, regardless what the facts are, baby bro is right, and if someone ever thought of hurting him? That's when Ulysses' temper shows it's ugly head. A hard to manage temper is only one of his flaws. another flaw is his paranoia. He's convinced someone, or something, is after him, appearing in mirrors, dreams, and places where no one could. His biggest flaw, by far, is his brother. If anything happened to his brother, he'd do whatever it takes to get revenge or to aid him, even if it means hurting others or himself.
  • Eustis Eugene (Az):
See, while Ulysses rejected the church, Eustis Eugene, the younger brother, threw himself into the church further becoming a devout follower of Kord. Eustis attends church everyday, sometimes more, spreading the words of Kord. Those who know him call him the 'gentle giant', and although he lives upto his reputation, he unfortunately has one weakness...his older brother. Eustis protects his brother like a bear protects its cub, and will often put himself in harms way if his brother is ever insulted. It is then that Eustis dons his black leather gloves and goes into a dark place in his soul where not even the divine words of his deity can reach...Perhaps this is why he is also held together by his brother's creation. You see, Eustis often gets injured during fights, and has in the past lost his eye and was heavily injured in his neck which effects his ability to breathe. He requires a mask to breathe normally, and has bolts in his neck to hold it upright.

  • Ira (Dead):
Ira was originally sent down from the celestial plane and landed on the doorstep of the Temple of Writ. This led her to be in a position of Nobility within and around the area. In church school she hung out with a boy named Ace who later joined The Clasp who then went on to commit crimes. Ira was in love with him because he was super smart however. The Prime Arbiter found out and sent her to a military institution at 16 which led her to join with the armies of the Dwendalian Empire to assist in the war effort against the Kryn Dynasty. As the war calmed down she found herself no longer needed on the front lines and was sent back to Rexxentrum and then later found work as a member of the Crowns guard mainly focusing on law enforcement. And now at 19 she still hasn’t met her loved one yet but she does think of him. She thinks of him every time she sleeps with someone- that’s also why she is addicted to sex cause it reminds her of him kinda and it’s the only time she gets to fantasize about him.
  • Ophelia (Dead):
Ophelia Godak was the love child of Von Streignard Godak and Camille Godak. Von Streignard was the Kalashtar ruler of Zadash, while Camille was a scholar of the Cobalt Soul. While not a direct member, Von was an honorary curator, advocating for the Cobalt Soul and providing for them monetarily. After giving birth to Ophelia, Camille returned to working at the Soul, leaving the raising process to Von. From the very beginning, Von kept Ophelia in captivity. She was never allowed to leave the gated walls of her mansion, she could only interact with her maid staff and fellow aristocrats, she was not informed of the outside world, etc. Up until the age of 18, her only friends were her maid staff and butlers, who were all well over double her age. Ophelia, while never truly satisfied, knew no better, so she accepted her life. Upon turning 18, she was introduced to her future husband, an elvish man named Konrad Pietov. By all accounts, Konrad was a selfish man, viewing Ophelia as property from the moment he laid his eyes on her. She tried to advocate for herself, but Von persisted, arguing that his status as a fellow royal was too much to lose out on. Ophelia felt trapped in her new life, but, not knowing any better, she simply accepted it. For a year straight, she attempted to entertain the man, perhaps even earn his good graces. All of these attempts were futile, as Konrad only cared about becoming a Godak, not Ophelia’s husband. All of this came to a climax six months before the scheduled wedding. The day Ophelia met Angelica It was late, no earlier than 11 pm. Ophelia was sitting right outside her garden, much like she had done for the past few nights, wondering about what life could be if she was born a commoner. As she went to reach for a white rose, her favourite kind, her hand was met by another. She apologized, pulling her hand back and looking at the person she assumed was the gardener. When she saw a stranger in the gardener's place, she froze for a moment. Before she had a chance to scream, the woman covered her mouth and pulled her into the bushes. The woman had a good hold on Ophelia, but she was able to escape. She went running, but that’s when she got a good look at her. The figure, a blue tiefling woman, covered head to toe in robes, was incredibly injured. That’s when she heard the sound of the city guard beginning to reach the gates of the mansion. In a moment that surprised even herself, she escorted the woman to her room. After the shock of it all went away, Ophelia began to treat her wounds. Through conversation, she learned her name was Angelica White, and she was a thief. Ophelia was concerned, but not as much as she should have been. After all, this was the first person she’s ever met that wasn’t either paying or being paid by her father. Angelica quickly learned about Ophelia’s situation, calling it disgusting. They talked for several hours, getting closer to each other and enjoying each other’s presence. As the sun began to rise, Angelica decided she needed to head out. Before she left, she offered to take Ophelia out on the town so she could learn about the world. With little hesitation, she agreed. Over the course of the next six months, Ophelia and Angelica would roam the town at night. With Angelica’s help, Ophelia learned what it was like to live as a commoner, a baker, a blacksmith, a librarian, etc. She began to truly understand what it meant to enjoy life. Ophelia was even invited to visit locations of The Clasp, much to the dismay of Atlas, Angelica’s teacher. He quickly warmed up to her once she expressed interest in archery. She enjoyed every second of it. In contrast, she began to hate every second she spent in the mansion. She would often question her father, stop attending the weekly meetings with Konrad, and, when she did show up, she would trade insults with him. Konrad often lost these encounters. Unfortunately, Von realized that someone was influencing his daughter, so he conducted an investigation. After a week of searching, he found his target and arrested her. Following the arrest of Angelica, Ophelia argued for her release, but her pleas fell on deaf ears, with Von violently claiming that she was next in line to the Godak empire and that she was to act like such. Ophelia did not want to accept this fate, so, she didn’t. On the day of her imprisonment, Angelica was freed by Ophelia, even impressing Angelica with her skills. As the two went back to her room to gather her belongings, Ophelia had a moment of hesitation, unsure of what to do. Angelica tried to reassure her that the two of them can run away together and be happy. Right as Ophelia believed her, an arrow entered her throat, killing her on the spot. The arrow was fired by Von, who pleaded with her daughter, saying he had to kill her for the sake of the Godak empire. In a state of rage, Ophelia grabbed Angelica’s longbow, shouted an incantation that Angelica taught her, then fired the arrow, killing her father. For a moment, she was unsure of what to do. The family guards rushing up the stairs forced her to change her mind, resulting in her running away from home. As she ran, and to this day, she was unsure of how the guards would have responded. Perhaps she could have lied. Perhaps she could have kept crying, leading to the guards assuming the best. Perhaps she could have run to the guards in distress. What she was sure of was that any of those would have resulted in her being trapped in the Godak family, a fate she desperately wished to avoid. Unsure of where to go, she fled to The Clasp, asking for Atlas. Without saying a word, he understood, bringing her into The Clasp. For the next several years, Atlas taught her the ropes of being a member of The Clasp, initially starting her out as a thief. After a few missions resulted in Ophelia resorting to violence, The Clasp felt it best to switch her occupation to an assassin. It’s here that she truly began to excel. Hit after hit, she began to make a bit of a name for herself locally. This eventually garnished the Cobalt Soul’s attention. Not super pleased with the fact that one of their honorary curators and husband of a soul member was assassinated, the Soul declared Ophelia an enemy and banned her from ever entering the Soul. This news deeply hurt Ophelia, as she still wished to see her mother. Despite not being raised by her, she still kept in contact with her via letter until the death of Von. Worse still, news began to spread about “The Godak Princess”, and how the true heir to the throne is still missing. Losing all sense of family and potentially being hunted by two powerful organizations, Ophelia began to sink into a depressive state. She began to request more missions, asking specifically for royalty and nobles. She started taking fewer breaks. Her social life began to dwindle. For Ophelia, the only thing that brought her satisfaction was the thought of fewer people being in her situation. To her, the one hit she wanted above all else was Konrad Pietov. While murder did not bring her satisfaction, his death would. Atlas, her closest and only friend, brought up his concern numerous times, asking that she focus on her mental health. At first, Ophelia refused to listen to him, believing she was perfectly fine. However, after a mission that nearly ended in her demise, she decided that maybe she should try doing things other than taking hit jobs.
  • Grayson Wyvernpelt (Dead):
Grayson was the eldest of three children born to Tasso and Stefana Wyvernpelt. Despite being a poor peasant family Grayson’s father still clung to the ancient family lineage of dragon slayers forcing him to learn how to fight and kill dragons as soon as he was able to walk. This caused a great deal of tension between the two as the years passed on. When he was 16 he joined the ranks of the Crownsguard after lying about his age. As the war between the Dwendallian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty heightened to a tipping point he was promoted to the rank of commander. During his first battle he led his soldiers into an ambush leading to most of their deaths and capture for the rest. While imprisoned and tortured by the Kryn soldiers his resolve never wavered or broke and finally the divine inspiration that he needed to escape the prison camp and free the remainder of his troops came to him from The Platinum Dragon. Upon returning back to the empire he was deemed a hero for his actions in freeing himself and the other soldiers being tortured by the enemy. No longer seeing the meaning in this war he resigned his post and became a priest for the very deity that guided his actions to escape. As he gave guidance and aided in prayers to the Platinum Dragon news of a dragon attack reached him. Leaving the temple he made his way to the place he was raised for the first time in ten years. The devastation was immense and where his family’s farm once stood was nothing but rubble with a young woman crying outside of it. His parents and younger brother were lost during the attack from the black dragon. Helping his sister Marta to her feet he began helping the villagers rebuild their homes. During this time he met a guard named Ashe Ravenwood and the two quickly fell in love. However the relationship didn’t last and as he rode off he heard her promise him that he’d feel the pain she felt now for the rest of his life. He spent his time after leaving Felderwin for the second time in his life trying to track down the foul beast that destroyed his family and his village. Becoming obsessed with his quest for revenge he even ignored rumours of gnolls attacking the villages of Alfield and Felderwin. A decision that filled him with guilt as he continued to turn up nothing on the dragon.
