The Tinker
The sound of metal creaking that Alexy could hear through the tooth-covered walls of the Dark Hall of Teeth was getting closer. Whatever made it, must have been massive. More massive than anything he ever encountered in the Halls. And yet, hearing it, he couldn't move. As if his body knew on some level that there was no escaping whatever was coming. He could swear the darkness around him was getting darker, thicker, almost tangible. In mere seconds, he couldn't see even the wall he was leaning on. And then, without any further warnings, it happened. For someone standing close by, it would look as if the wall just opened in on itself, a giant spotlight blinding Alexy. He could barely see through his fingers, but what was shining on him, was an eye of a giant, metal creature. The Tinker is one of The Inhabitants, the giant, eldritch beings native to the Dark Halls. Compared to normal creatures of the darkness, The Inhabitants aren't made of the dark, they just always were here. They don't have to listen to the rules of the Halls, such as the light levels needed to avoid losing something and they can even ignore their walls, passing between them without problem. And all of them have a role described by their name. The Tinker's role is to fix broken things they find. And the way they do it is both a blessing and a curse.
Appearance
Their full size isn't known, only small parts of it - its hands and parts of its face, have been seen. But judging from that, if it ever was able to fit inside a Hall, it could be about 100-150 meters tall and many times longer. Even in the biggest Halls (they do not appear in Spaces), most of their "face" is covered by the shadows they cast on themself. The first thing one will notice if ever encountering them is one of their eyes, a giant spotlight that looks like a vintage camera lens, something that can only be seen when it doesn't look directly at the one who wants to observe them. On the other side of their "head", there are multiple other, smaller eyes of different sizes, which make them look like glasses with magnifying lenses. The parts of The Tinker's head that were ever seen make it seem like a giant machine. From the descriptions of witnesses, it is square, metal, and looks like a weird mix between the front of a semi-truck and an old locomotive, all of that so big, that it doesn't fit in one's view if The Tinker looks at them. Next, it has multiple arms of different sizes, each intended to work on different things, the smallest ones being the size of a toothpick and the largest one that was seen was the size of a 4-storied building. Some hands are simply that, hands that can handle and manipulate things normally, while others might have tools already embedded into them. The rest of their body is a mystery, as nothing more has ever been witnessed. Maybe they are just a head with hundreds of legs, and maybe there is some giant body connected to them.Fixing things
Whenever The Tinker finds someone who lost things to the Darkness of the Halls (which, to be fair, is anyone who has been in the Dark Halls for more than a few minutes), they will grab them gently and place them on one of their larger hands. If the patient tries to escape or move too much, they will be injected with a substance that will paralyze them for the time of the operation. The Tinker then assesses the damage the Darkness has done to them by looking at them with their "magnifying eyes". Once that is done, the operation finally starts. The Tinker always starts working on the biggest physical pieces missing first, then moves on to the smaller ones, leaving anything nonphysical, such as concepts, thoughts, words, etc, for later. The Tinker will bring out pieces of scrap and will measure them against the missing body part. Once they find ones that are the right size and the right material according to them, they will start to shape them, melt them, weld them, sew them, and nail them together, until they finally look like a crude version of the original. Then, they place it in the spot where it should be and slightly press with their hand, from which sounds of steam start to come. The process is painless, and a few seconds later, the missing body part is reattached. When it comes to replacing nonphysical pieces, they bring out their smaller hands. The materials they will use this time look like various types of stuffing one would use to fill a plush toy. Once again, they will pick and choose pieces that look most right to them and then form them into balls of different sizes. Then, they stuff them into the mouth of their patient. The patients describe feeling the balls of stuffing entering their mouths, fearing that they would go into their throats, but instead, each time, the balls attached themselves to the roof of their mouths and then melted like cotton candy. The things replaced by The Tinker may be better, worse, completely useless, or quite similar to normal, but they will always be different. The replaced memories tend to be jumbled up and there might be some similarities between them and what really should be remembered, but in most cases, they are a mess. Even worse with fixed morals, rules, emotions, as The Tinker will try to fix them with whatever they consider the closest, and since they aren't human, they aren't that good with that. Those who go through the "operation" are considered Touched by The Tinker, as anything that was replaced by them cannot be recovered in any way from the Halls. This is why some consider that being dead is better than being found by this Inhabitant.

Seeing the loss
The big eye of The Tinker has an unusual ability. It is able to perceive every part of one's body that was taken by the Darkness of the Halls, both physical and psychological. The Tinker uses it to assess the damage done to the body. In case they encounter a group of people, they will focus on the one whose state seems to be the worst for their prolonged survival in this realm. The creature observed Alexy for a moment. He could only see a fragment of its massive scrap face. He really hoped that it was one of those that could only see movement. But that wasn't the case. The colossus brought one of its hands out of the darkness towards Alexy. It was about the same size as him. The hand picked him up gently by cupping him up. Other hands showed up, each of a different size, the smallest ones smaller than Alexy's fingers. Some of them grabbed him, while others opened his mouth. The smallest ones brought out pieces of scrap, plastic, and what looked like glass and started putting it in Alexy's mouth. Somehow, it didn't hurt. There were other things happening to his body that he couldn't see as his head was held in place. The operation was ongoing.
