Introduction to When Darkness Craves

When Darkness Craves takes a place in the Dark Halls, seemingly endless world filled with ever-growing rooms. Outside of this world, there's the modern world we're currently living in. But when certain conditions are met, the Dark Halls can spirit away both people and things around them.

The darkness is hungry

Dark Halls consist of rooms of varying sizes. Each of these structures is filled with things people lost inside of them, growing with every victim. When a light requirement of a hall is not met, one can feel the darkness gnawing on them. After a while (depending on each room), they'll feel the bite. At that moment, they have lost something, either physical or not. From now on, it too has been used by the hall to increase its size.

The halls are inhabited

But the darkness is not the only thing that is dangerous inside of the Dark Halls. There are many creatures born of the dark, shadows, and loss that traverse this place. And those that don't care about the living flesh that entered their lair are few. Of those friendlier ones, none are as mysterious as the Archivists. There is one of them for every hall, each protecting it from more dangerous beings. When asked, those giant robed creatures can even help someone find the thing they lost inside of a hall. Though sometimes their help comes with other risks.

Themes of the world

Loss

The main theme of this world is loss. One loses their way back to the normal world, they lose things dear to them if they don't watch out for the hunger of the darkness, and they can even lose themselves or their reason to escape.

Obsession and moving on

Those who lose something have two choices. Some decide to sacrifice their time to recover what was taken from them. And while the lucky few manage to do it quickly, some spend years on their search, not seeing that they lose more of themselves on the way. And some decide to move on, dealing with their loss while focusing on what's in front of them.
