The Ashguard

The Ashguards of Blackwatch are a group of highly trained warriors who defend against the orcish tribe of the Ashlands. Members of the Ashguard are typically former convicts who have been given a chance to reduce their prison sentences in exchange for risking their lives against the brutality of the orcs. Most who join the Ashguard do so out of desperation or necessity. Those who attempt to escape after joining are hunted by other Ashguards and subsequently executed for desertion. An Ashguard which captures a deserter gets additional years taken off of their sentences- this discourages most from attempting to escape their new life of servitude to the Averian Dominion.
