Human Supremacy

Human Supremacy is the belief that Humanfolk are in some way superior to other folk and animals. This is not a view commonly espoused in polite company, but there are signs that it may be a more widely-held belief than might be suspected.   The basic beliefs of Human Supremacy in Westlo relate to the contingent belief in the right of humanfolk to inhabit the land west of the Armont to the exclusion of all uninvited races. Following the arrival of the first humans in around the year 50 before the Modern Age (BMA), humanfolk settled in a sheltered port (now Duntown) and attempted, at least at first, to have peaceful relationships with the aboriginal elven and orcish towns. This may have been rebuffed: there is no definitive narrative from the early years of human habitation of the region. Whatever happened, it is clear that by the year zero, there were deep divisions between humanfolk willing to live with other peoples, and humanfolk who were not.

Culture

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The thing about Human Supremacists in Westlo is that they do not follow a different set of customs from the mass of the population. The main annual events, ways of dressing, religious observances, all that hardly diverges from what we interpret as normalcy. Instead, it is a question of degree: how devoted to Dendrah are you? how important is it that your champion at the Dendrach Games is a human? why do you think there are so few elves, orcs and gnomes in your towns?

Ideals

Relationship Ideals

Human Supremacy holds the belief that blood purity is the perfect state of the human. This is taken to mean that both parents of a child should be human. However, this does not mean that humanfolk are forbidden from having sexual relationships with other peoples. That would be illogical. It is only female humanfolk who are not allowed to have relationships with other peoples.   It is not clear that the idea of Human Supremacy should necessarily go hand-in-hand with Gender Supremacy but, while there are those that outright refute the connection, there is at least anecdotal evidence that there is some degree of correlation.
