Personal history

Born illegally in Zahgrim and deported at a very young age, Taerngheim grew up being persecuted. He was first born of mixed blood Arkgen/Arbhen, a new race (Valngheim). Taerngheim was raised outside Zahgrim in the Mhalstag Mountains, before his family and kin were discovered by the Arkgen and forced to flee to the Frjanhel Mountains (at age 11). His parents died 15 years after they fled the Mhalstag Mountains, and being the oldest, Taerngheim took up the role as leader of this new, young people (age 26). He established them as their own people the Valngheim, and they named their first city Kaorsdhalg (later Aildenbrogh). He helped build up and strengthen his village before leaving in 1636 to study (at age 47). He first studied in Reunified Arsentil until 1639, when he left and studied in Zahgrim until 1641 (at age 52). Zahgrim officials noticed Taerngheim stood out and had a spy follow him right back to his village. The Zahgrim were now informed that the mixed blood "abominations" they had chased out and assumed dead, were indeed alive. Zahgrim sent a small army to enslave or slaughter the Valngheim. Upon reaching the city, the Zahgrim requested Taerngheim and his people submit to servitude or to death, in response Taerngheim famously proclaimed, "As the Valngheim shall never live a single day in shackles, prepare yourselves for the cold of my blade.” Taerngheim then proceeded to stand at the gates with an army of 600 against an army of 5000. This became known as The First Siege of Aildenbrogh. Taerngheim wielded a unique long-sword forged specifically for a man his size, titled "Claimoare" in battle and fought with vicious, unceasing savageness and brutality, seeming never to succumb to fatigue. The Arkgen charged through the gates, a chokepoint, thrice, resting in-between each engagement as they could not maintain the same pace as their opponents or push the Valngheim back, despite immense pressure. After the third charge, the exhausted remains of the Arkgen army somberly returned home, leaving around 100 men too fatigued for the journey. At the end of the ordeal, 3800 Arkgen lay dead, and the 100 exhausted men they left behind were executed, while only 76 Valngheim were slain. Zahgrim then ceased to view the submission or destruction of the Valngheim as a priority. Upon hearing this Taerngheim shouted "They lack the strength to stand against us, and so would rather claim we are insignifigant, to sooth their minds of this act of cowardice!" After this, Taerngheim led his people it the formation of a well established nation that was at peace for many years. The period of peace was ended however during the great winter of 1705, when a great dragon, Stormborn, led his brethren into the Frjanhel Mountains. They consumed whole flocks of livestock, entertained by the weakness of the flocks' protectors, the Valngheim. The Valngheim struggled to get by and Taerngheim was enraged by these beasts who thought themselves superior, and caused his people great pain. He ventured out into the mountains, and climbed Stormborn peak (named for the event that transpired there). On this peak Taerngheim shouted curses at the prideful beast, challenging him to combat, his powerful voice echoing throughout the mountains. Stormborn heard these calls, and took great offense to what he heard, most of all the challenge. Stormborn was filled with rage a took off to consume his puny challenger, his brethren followed, eager to observe a test of their king's prowess. Stormborn was slain upon that peak, as Claimoare was thrust with great strength through his scales, his hide, and his heart. The other dragons, terrified at the sight of a real challenge fled north, and have not been seen since (age 116). Taerngheim ruled his nation well for the rest of his years. In 1901 he declared to his people that his time had come. He gifted the Meinig Laoch to his people, and left with his famed sword for the wilderness of the Frjanhel Mountains, from where he never returned. (age 312).
