Hrafdalsaross

Deep in the abandoned mines of the fallen Melistern Empire stands a lone iron gate in an underground courtyard. Behind this gate lies a relic of the old Empire, a city of men and dwarves, still here to withstand the test of time.

History

The town of Hrafdalsaross is a ancient town indeed, being arround since the fall of the Melistern Empire more then a millenia ago. But the original mine is even older, being dug at the rise of the Empire arround the year 80AAA.

The old mine of Hrafdalsaross, in that time called Grundal was a first a Tin mine. It was in these years that bronze was the primary metal for tools and jewelry so tin was much needed. With the coming of steel in the late 2nd century AAA the demand for tin dropped and for several years the mine was abandoned. Until 100 years later the metal Adamantine was discovered in the ground and the mine was reopened. This metal was found a lot deeper in the ground.

It was in this time that the New Mine was dug underneath the original mine, now called the Old Mine. The mine grew in lenght and depth quickly over the following 200 years.

During the First Melistern civil war in the year 267AAA the mine served as a reserve treasure chamber for the Imperial treasury. It was then that the name Hrafdalsaross came up first, with a large underground ravine being fortified and purposed as a temporary living space.

During the interbellum that lasted 163 years the mine was reopened and the Hrafdalsaross was reabandoned.

With the Second Melistern civil war in the year 430AAA and the fall of the Empire a few years later the town was a rallypoint for several high imperial officials, under whom the steward of the city of Melistern, the right hand of the Emperor.

The steward and the council quickly reinforced the old fortress together with the royal escorte and the local miners, being reinforced by a smal group dwarves from the dwarvish tribes who would settle somewhere elsewhere in the Eastwall, assimilating into the wider Urungká people.
