Pavol Tasselhook

Pavol was a half-elf merchant and craftsman who ran a respected outfitting shop in Waterdeep’s Dock Ward, supplying tools and gear to the city’s fishing industry. His inventory was both extensive and specialized, including hand-tied trammel nets, collapsible crab cages, deepwater weighted lines, reinforced lobster pots, baited eel traps, and weather-treated float markers. Pavol’s gear was known for its durability and clever design, making his shop the first stop for many of the Dock Ward’s professional anglers and coastal trappers.   Grayson, seeking a new life away from noble scrutiny, became Pavol’s apprentice. He helped design custom traps tailored to a client’s needs, adjusting mesh sizes for specific fish, modifying trap enclosures for intelligent prey like octopuses, and experimenting with collapsible frameworks for deep-sea retrieval. Under Pavol’s quiet mentorship, Grayson learned how to work with his hands, solve problems through design, and earn respect without a title.   Pavol’s success eventually attracted the attention of House Gralhund. Aethor Gralhund, always looking to expand the house’s influence into trade sectors, repeatedly offered to buy the shop. Pavol refused each time. Grayson, suspecting something dangerous, tried to uncover what Aethor’s endgame was, but his efforts were premature and conspicuous. Not long after, Pavol was found dead in his shop. The City Watch filed it as an accident, but Grayson knew better.   The loss of Pavol was a breaking point. It marked the end of Grayson’s quiet life and the beginning of his fight against the corruption he had once tried to escape. Though little-known outside the fishing trade, Pavol's influence helped shape the man Grayson would become. His shop is long gone, but his legacy lives on in every calculated step Grayson takes toward justice.
