Forest Elves

You want an impartial opinion? You're asking the wrong damned people. The only good Elf is a dead Elf, and that's a fact. My oldest died to the mute bastards, so did my husband, my brother and my da. We've been at war with them for the last three centuries, but if it wasn't us it'd be the Humans, and that's a fact.
-Haelda Njall, ex-Vardir of Stromgard

Basic Information

Anatomy

Forest Elves are taller than Humans and are around the same height as Prime Warborn. Their skin is thick and green, with a texture and hue reminiscent of vines. They have pointed ears, and hair that looks more like vines than Human or Warborn hair. Elven eyes are pale and colourless, with a slight glow in low light.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves can reproduce with Humans and Warborn. Their offspring are very taboo, and rejected nearly everywhere.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves reach maturity later than other species, and are believed to be technically immortal, though disease often kills them before the end of their second century. Despite their longevity, they seem to reproduce regularily, though Elves rarely have more than one child.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Omnivores, Forest Elves have a similar diet to that of humans, though they also consume a wider selection of plants and insects. They don't seem to be affected by poisons or venoms.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

The Pale Elven kingdom have emerged at the beginning of the century from what was believed to be splintered nations occupying eastern Moudrost. The Pale King unified them into a kingdom and immediately proved to be a threat the likes of which the Utlaegr hadn't seen since their first arrival to the continent. There is rumor of an elven empire deep within their desolate lands, but the last contact with them was recorded over two centuries ago.

Average Technological Level

The Pale Elves have long since attained the capacity to produce high quality iron, and recently discovered steel. Their architecture has remained unchanged for their known history, their great fortresses built into the carcasses of the giant Mountainwood trees.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elven sign language is the only method of communication they have with other species, and it is believed they harness some form of telepathy to communicate amongst themselves.

Common Dress Code

Civilians tend to wear bright, colourful garb with complex patterns, appearing to made of light, layered cloth. These garments are woven, unlike to the the carapace worn by their military which is grown out from their own bodies. Rankings and social status are displayed by colour-coded tattoos that adorn their skin. Rare inks and more intricate patterns denote higher status Elves, and tattoos made with gold are the sign of royalty and their entourage.

History

Very little is known of Elven history, as they have never been on speaking terms with the Utlaegr, and the few elven communities living amongst the other races are very reserved as to their own history. It is assumed that they are native to Jotun, and were the first inhabitants, as they seemed firmly established upon the first colonization of the Warborn. More is known about their military than their culture, and if their armies are anything to judge them by, elven leadership is capable and ruthless. The infamous Pale King, assumed leader of the Pale Elven kingdom at the borders of Moudrost, is best known for his incredible powers and incredibly disciplined forces, and has led the elven armies from deep within his kingdom for the last century.

Historical Figures

The Pale King, a near-mythical figure of Pale Elven Royalty, having united splintered elven nations into a powerful kingdom. Legends surround his abilities as a Soother, and it is said that he once dominated an entire army of Utlaegr, driving them to end their own lives, winning a major conflict just as his forces were on the verge of losing.
