Temples & Sites of Power

Throughout the vast and varied lands of Wardenfall, sacred places rise from jungle ruins, desert sands, icy peaks, and the very bones of the earth. These are the temples, monuments of devotion, awe, and mystery. Built by mortal hands to honor their patron gods, each temple reflects the region and the deity it serves. Some shine with celestial light and call to the faithful in song, while others are swallowed in shadow and blood, whispering secrets to those who dare to listen. These temples are more than places of prayer—they are nexuses of divine will, where the veil between worlds thins, and miracles or curses may fall like rain.   Long before mortals rose to power, older civilizations carved their legacy into stone. Hidden beneath mountains or buried in long-forgotten ruins, these ancient temples were not dedicated to worship alone. They were designed to protect, contain, or empower. Within their walls lie vaults of arcane relics and the legendary Primal Keys—artifacts said to be fragments of the first magic, capable of altering the world itself. These sites are layered with enchantments, wards, and riddles, built to test or destroy any who would dare claim what lies within.   Among the ruins, ancient altars still stand, silent and waiting. Some were soaked in sacrifice, used to offer blood and bone to cruel demon princes or forgotten gods. Others were conduits of pure power, used to bind celestial beings or forge unbreakable pacts. Though their origins may be lost to time, their magic lingers. Even the most crumbled of stones hum with remnants of sacred rites. It is said that when offerings are made under the right stars, the old powers awaken—and they remember those who call them.   Scattered across Wardenfall are magical portals, dormant or flickering with unstable light. Some are worn pathways used by ancient empires, others wild rifts opened by the chaos of the realms’ convergence. These gateways can lead to places of great wonder or terrible peril—from the heart of a mountain to the swirling void between planes. As the Heroes for Hire and the Fated continue their journeys, these pages will fill with the knowledge, names, and legends of the sacred and profane. Every step they take toward these sites of power weaves their legacy deeper into the history of Wardenfall.
