Adeptus
An Adeptus is a druid who has become an apprentice under an Archdruid and works for the archdruid. They act in archdruid's place and typically any town near or in a major forest will have an adeptus. Though they are not as powerful as an archdruid, their skill is above that of a normal druid and certainly above the average person.
Requirements
An adeptus must have some connection with the forest they wish to work with and in. This requires the knowledge to speak with plants and animals, along with knowing druidic language. Though it is not required, most adeptus are skilled in magic. How skilled depends on the archdruid they work under.
Appointment
It is said that only an unlucky druid can find the archdruid and to become an adeptus, one must be able to find the archdruid to get their agreement. Even nature knows not to mess with an archdruid so it is certainly a trial to hunt one down effectively.
Duties
Adepti are responsible for maintaining a specific area, usually a town. Their roles will vary depending on the town's needs, but they help maintain the balance between the forest and the town. They may help uncover problems with crops and livestock and can even provide some herbal remedies when needed.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
There are few that are dismissed from the position of adeptus. Druids will typically hold this position until their death. There have been a few rare cases of adeptus going rogue, destroying nature, or favoring a town too much that they ignore the forest's needs. When irreversible harm has been done, the archdruid will remove the adeptus from the position and exiling them.
