Globs the Gjervling

A duo is formed

Globs became famous as the first animal to star in the new moving pictures. She played the faithful mount and companion of the heroine Ophelli Trastall on her adventures to keep her hometown safe from dangers. The pair starred in a series of seven short silent films together, and then in a fortnightly mini-series which ran for a year.   Globs had been purchased from a Gjervling rancher by the camera man as a leisure mount, he liked to go on riding treks across the savanna. When the director expressed his desire for a Gjervling mount for the heroine of the story, Jaspa, the camera man, put forward his Globs as a possible candidate. Globs did have the finest pedigree and had very rare markings across her scales, which jaspa said would look very grand on camera. She had also been highly trained and was quite intelligent even for her breed, which were known to be of above average inelligence for animals anyway.   While Globs put up a good showing at the auditions, the director had decided to choose another Gjervling instead. This nearly spelled the end of Glob's showbiz career, however luck happened to be on their side. Dierde Hastinga, the actress who played the heroine, happened to drop in towards the end of the auditions and was instantly smitten by Globs, she demanded that the director change his mind. The director was at first having none of it, but when the starlett, who had taken no small persuading to appear in the films in the first place, said she would quit unless Globs was chosen, he relented and Globs' road to fame was set out upon.

The high life

Globs and Dierde formed a bond and this came through on screen, in oftimes silly moments. They were an instant hit with movie goers, who were already enthralled with this new technology. While filming Globs was stabled on set in the best accommodation Jaspa could provide. Visitors were allowed to go and see her during breaks from filming, for a small fee of course, she particularly enjoyed this as they often brought her treats, and scratched that annoying bit behind her eye that couldn't quite reach herself.   After the year of mini-series, the director had picked up another film idea by a promising new writer, and he no longer required the services of our star pair. Dierde, went back to her singing and stage career, making a grand comeback as a now movie star, and her fame continued to grow. Globs went back to his farm with jaspa, who used the money earned to build Globs a brand new stable. During the dry season, Jaspa allows visitors to come visit Globs, as she still has her fans.

GJERVLINGS
Standing approximately 6 foot at the shoulder, these bi-pedal reptiles, have become one of the prime leisure mounts amongst the populous of Gran Riomar. The finest breeds come from the ranches out in the savanna surrounding the city, it was from one of these that Globs came. They have long thick tails, and long necks which help with balance when carrying a rider. They are capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour for short bursts.

A lasting bond
Dierde never forgot her faithful show companion, and at least twice a year came to visit her. She would make sure to bring her favourite treats, and Jaspa would let Dierde ride her out for the day. Globs never forgot Dierde either and would run excitedly in circles as soon as she saw Dierde approaching.
