Zagovory

Zagovory is a custom of using magic to enchant objects and people. The practice is primarily a verbal one, meaning that practitioners have to speak specific incantations to have the intended effect. However, they are also skilled in herbalism. The most important thing about zagovory is that it generally isn't an offensive form of magic. The most its practitioners can offer warriors is enchanting their shields, armour or weapons.

Types of practitioners

Healers

Most often one can find practitioners of zagovory working as healers in town and villages. In smaller settlements they often become the most respected members of community and can even become village leaders.

Poisoners

Poisoners are the most feared practitioners of zagovory and, in some countries, they are considered criminals. They are often healers who were drawn to more darker aspects of magic. Some rulers employ poisoners to craft poisoned weapons for their armies.

Artificers

Artificers are practitioners who combine zagovory with metalsmithing. They specialize in producing enchanted objects. Artificers can create a wide variety of things from farming equipment to enchanted swords.

Priests

In small rural communities far from temples, practitioners of zagovory, who are often healers or artficiers, take on the role of religious leaders. They oversee rituals and officiate marriages.

Becoming a practitioner

Most practitioner begin their training as teenagers after discovering that they have a magical talent. Though zagovory isn't the only form of magic, it is often the only one available to them. Most people go their local healer or artificier and begin training. It usually lasts up to 5 years. Then, the young practitioner often has to leave the community as there rarely is place for more practitioners in a village.
