Session 0 Summary: The Baptism by Fire

The neonates’ first night in unlife was anything but gentle. Each of them was caught in the catastrophic inferno, their old lives burned away as they were thrown into the shadow war between the Camarilla, the Baali, and the Technocracy.

By the time dawn approached, they had fought, fled, or burned, only to rise again—reborn as Kindred, and immediately forced to prove their worth.

The Fire That Changed Everything

Galen Saccente – The Lost Healer

  • Galen was caught in the flames while working at an underground clinic, treating those discarded by society.
  • As the building collapsed, he saw his old master, the leader of the Obsidian Circle, trapped within the inferno.
  • Against all reason, he fought through the smoke and embers, dragging his master to safety.
  • But before he could escape himself, the Nephandus' brand seared into his flesh, and the world faded into darkness.
  • When he woke, Ezra Mallory was standing over him. He had been reborn as Kindred—chosen for something greater.

Samantha Stoker – The Fallen Chemist

  • Samantha was working at a Pentex-affiliated nightclub when Technocracy Iteration X operatives arrived, aiming to cover up the fire’s origins.
  • Not recognizing them for what they were, she was witness to them killing the owner of the bar, a Pentex executive, in the backroom of the bar, the floor doused in gin, and threatened to lite them up with a zippo.
  • Her last memory before dying was the sound of Victor's metal boots and him lunging at her and the smell of burning skin.
  • When she awoke, Victor Lane stood over her, the sigil of Clan Tremere now burned into her soul.

Eveline Davis – The Seeker of Truth

  • Eveline had gone to the museum, socializing with Arthur and Zack and viewing an ancient text on occult theory.
  • Zack was an apprentice to Dr. Arthur Langley, a skeptical academic who didn’t believe in real magick.
  • However, Zack had fallen out with Arthur, wanting to pursue true magic—even if it meant losing his mentor’s favor.
  • As they discussed, Arthur knocked over the artifact named the Ashes of Apophis and Eveline caught the urn in her dress, the infernal fire surged through the dress and into the walls, and trapping her inside.
  • Zack pushed her toward the door, attempting to save her life with an unpracticed spell—but he was knocked out by Imhotep.
  • She awoke to the whispered prayers of Imhotep, her new Sire, who promised that she had been chosen for something greater.

Alice Cross – The Survivor

  • Alice was hiding near a Pentex factory, avoiding loan sharks and trying to figure out her next move.
  • She watched as the factory exploded, engulfing several buildings in the spreading hellfire.
  • From the shadows, she saw the original perpetrators escaping—but couldn’t make out who they were.
  • Before she could flee, the perpetrators caused the burning building to collapse on top of her, burying her alive.
  • When she awoke, she was clawing her way out of the rubble.
  • Leila Torres turned her—but in her first moments, she chose the rat instead of the human to feed on.
  • Vivienne Rousseau, the Harpy, was quick to brand her with a nickname: “Rat Kisser.”

Baptized in Fire, Thrown into the Court

After barely surviving their Embrace, the neonates were dragged before the Camarilla and given no time to adjust.

  • Ezra gathered them in Elysium, where they were humiliated and given their mocking title—the B.A.S.T.A.R.D.S.
  • The court laughed at their existence, but Ezra quietly took them aside and taught them how to survive.
  • He told them his parable of the young man who seized power, warning them not to be loud or strong—but patient and cunning.

Now, armed with new vampiric abilities and surrounded by enemies, they were left to find their own way forward.

Planning for the Daylight Hours

With dawn approaching, they knew they needed a place to regroup.

  • Alice used her old contacts to secure a blacked-out van, giving them a means of transportation.
  • They loaded into the van and made their way to Samantha’s apartment, a safe place to rest and make plans.
  • The city was still burning, and as the sun crept toward the horizon, they realized:
  • The Baali were still out there.
  • The Technocracy was cleaning up evidence.
  • Pentex had suffered a loss, but it wasn’t over.
  • And no one in the Camarilla truly believed they would survive.

The night had ended—but their real fight was only beginning.
