Notable Minor Deities
Oliphia, Joysinger:
Area of Concern: Song, joy, empowering the weak, cleansing undead.
Oliphia is the greatest among a collection of musically inclined deities called the Inheritors of Harmony. Oliphia spreads songs of joy across Vria, hoping to counteract the dread dirge of Cilic. Like her brethren in the Inheritors, Oliphia is dedicated to stopping the reign if Cilic. She is the patron of artists, especially singers and those who fight undead.
Lythanderos, Selevand's Protector:
Area of Concern: Sea monsters, secrets, water, plane of water.
One of the Elemental Lords of Water, Lythanderos is a powerful Leviathan that dominates the plane of water. Despite this power, the ruler of the sea is quite content to remain sequestered away in the Santuary of Selavand. It is Lythanderos's sacred charge to watch over the Sanctuary and protect it secrets, and he fulfills this duty faithfully. Lythanderos is the patron of secrets, particuly of secrets that cannot be shared with the world. Those who seek to guard knowledge find themselves aligned with him. He is also one of the three guardian deities of Armaizte.
Grekic, Lord of the Fallen:
Area of Concern: Undeath, tyranny, souls
Much is shrouded in mystery around Grekic. Rumours cannot agree on his origin. Some say he was the first undead, raised with control over all the rest. Other stories paint him as a king who died with a powerful grudge, and yet other suggest he was one of the first ever necromancers. An ancient god, he was the first recoginised god of Undeath, and formerly a member of the Major Gods. However he lost a portion of his power to Cilic during her ascension and with it fell from his seat. He has held on since then, his malign essence wending it's way through the world. Grekic has lost much of his power over undead, but his still a patron of necromancers and those who seek to gain power using necromancy. Since his defeat, the Lord of the Fallen has shifted focus to the soul, and is the patron of ghosts, wraiths and other unbodied spirits.
Calavan, Patron of the Bound:
Area of Concern: Prisoners, bindings and agony.
Calavan, the former Lord of Shadow is a bound god. Imprisoned by the Lady in Shadow, Calavan lost all his former powers and domains. However in his prison, the Patron of the Bound found a new following. Prisoners or those bound into servitude offer praise to Calavan, asking for succour that they may survive another day. He and his followers persevere, until the day comes when they may be unbound, and free to wreak their vengeance upon their foes.
Anak'thir, the Dragon Sage:
Area of Concern: Magic, dragons and powerful secrets.
Anak'thir is one of the most powerful Minor Gods. Often revered as a patron of the Arcane Arts, Anak'thir is said to possess incredible knowledge and power. Residing on the edge of the Faceless Vortex, the Dragon Sage gifts knowledge to his most devout followers, with many believing that those who offer enough to him can become dragons themselves.
Lepe, The Glasswork Goddess:
Area of Concern: Magic, glass and beauty.
Lepe is the goddess of Bottled Magic, a form of magecraft unique to Nimrudia. Combining magic and artistry together, Lepe is a goddess that seeks to bring out the beauty and natural abilities of creations. She is often consulted as a goddess when it comes to love and relationships, as well as her portfolio of magic. However she is a relatively small goddess, only given praise in Nimrudia.
Pena, God of Dreams:
Area of Concern: Dreams, sleep and inspiration.
The Inspiration Artist, Pena flits between the dreams of living beings, imparting inspiration and wisdom. Appearing as hundreds of tiny butterflies who gather together into a single form when needed, Pena is the God of Dreams. They wish to inspire living beings to greatness through their dreams, to help them find their motivation and inspiration. Pena is known to have a rivalry with the Cthonic Lord Fraisch, the Lord of Torpor.
Azez, Lord of Symbols:
Area of Concern: Glyphs, scribes and spells.
He who is Inscribed commands a purview of cards, glyphs, scribes and spells. He holds knowledge regarding runes and words of great power. Azez understands how runes can supplement and empower arcane magic, and through this knowledge is able to make predictions regarding distant events. Many of his followers are gamblers, tarot readers and others who regularly handle cards and symbols, for arcane, prophetic or mundane purposes.
The Chained God:
Area of Concern: Self-restraint, madness and sacrifice.
The Chained God is a nameless deity, whose origins are a mystery to all, including his dispirate followers. The Chained God holds dominion over self-restraint and responsibility, that true strength comes with temperance, to be unleashed at the right moment, not indulged in. The Chained God is believed to be restraining some power of the Outer Gods, as it is known he is in conflict with the Prince in Yellow. However, with the vast power differential between the two, it is unlikely the power dynamic between the two will be flipped anytime soon.
Vatinala, the Serpent's Kiss:
Area of Concern: family, fertility, snakes, sorcery.
A powerful sorceress, Vatinala was once a leader on the continent of Armaizte. She cared for the snakes around her and took in those who were lost and without family. She created communities with structure that helped sustain her ambitions and pushed others to pursue magical knowledge. She later transformed herself into a naga to further protect and nurture those she loved, proving to herself and everyone else that dedication and curiosity, with a sprinkle of strong magic, can break all barriers. Upon reaching godhood, she saw to reward those who wished to also care for others, give their next generation a life of love and ambition, and take in those less fortunate.
Koljirie, the Bleeding Sky:
Area of Concern: Death, regret and memories.
Koljirie is the patron of the regretful dead, those who pass on with regrets about their life. Serving as a goddess of death, she collects the memories of the regretful dead, those who cannot pass on but lack the strength to manifest as ghosts of spiritual undead. These spirits are planted in her garden, a realm of dead and withering flowers, of dreams left unfulfilled and abandoned. Red rain falls upon these flowers, rich with emotion and pain. For flowers that find life in this water, they are washed from the garden and back into the cycle of life. But few who have entered Koljirie's embrace ever leave
