Ah'lin

The city of Ah’lin is split in half. While one half scales a lone hill the other floats high in the air as if plucked from the ground and lifted up. Indeed this is what happened thanks to the workings of a mage not too long ago. The raised section of the city features buildings, markets and various other structures that are butting up next to each other due to the confined surface area. However many structures reach high in the sky, some even floating above the already unnaturally raised ground. Overgrowth from a large variety of plants shelters much of the open area, breaking the winds from such a high altitude. The structures themselves often look bland with only a meager smattering of color. Its clear buildings are made strictly for shelter purposes and not much more. Inside the buildings, however, paint a more elaborate picture of taste, personality and culture. The lower section of the city sports much more color and less overgrowth. The buildings are also spread out more allowing for more pathways and roads. Down here the city looks closer to its brother city Jor.

Demographics

Primarily Humans, elves, halflings and dwarves. More often than other towns one might see beings often feared or looked down upon due to their bestial appearance or association to the 'wilds'

Government

A meritocracy of the Vraccusean kingdom. Its current overseer being Count Olak.

Defences

Magical wards, hexes, and preventative spells protect much of the city. Below guards patrol and hired mercenaries keep watch.

Industry & Trade

Crafting and selling of various magical items are the primary means of an economy within Ah'lin. Scrolls, potions, spell books, familiars, artifacts, relics and everything in between can be found here. In the lower levels none magical or lesser magical goods are sold. Livestock is raised, crops grow and craftsmen create and sell mundane goods.

Infrastructure

Lower level

Much of the lower level looks identical to the wide open and well-trotted city of Jor. The buildings cluster closer together but hardly reach much more than two or three stories tall. At every point in the day some portion of the lower levels are covered in the shadows of the towers that float overhead.

Upper level

Much of the towers are a mystery to the majority of the Vraccusean kingdom. Only those sufficient enough in magic may enter simply due to it's floating nature. No port enters the upper level aside from portals. What's more much of the rooms are locked behind incantations, hexes or other spells. Still, the towers are made of marble finely chiseled and sculpted. A simple modest design on the exterior. Inside the intense collection of residual magic creates an air of rainbow colors. The interior is a collage of illusions created to make for a pleasant atmosphere and ward off any ideas of claustrophobia. In reality, this entire portion of the city is indoors. One would be forgiven if they forgot as the ceilings fade away to views of the sky or vistas of wonderous worldly locations. The hallways allow for at least six people to walk shoulder to shoulder. No carts or beasts of burden are allowed into the thurofares.

Assets

Magic shops, artifacts, potions, herbalists. If it involves magic, acquiring magic or learning magic you'll find it here.

Guilds and Factions

Hand of Lilth holds the most sway under the status quo. Council of Coin is found primarily in the lower levels. The revivalists have been enjoying a surge of power here.   Relic hunters guild Magic schools
