Clarissa Canter
Lord Clarissa Canter (a.k.a. Pirate hunter)
Born a half Vernan, half Mregian. Clarissa was an oddball in her family, who were mostly factory workers. She joined the United Mregian Navy at a young age, seeking fortune and adventure away from her smoggy and grey home town.
Clarissa quickly rose through the ranks, displaying acts of bravery and leadership. She soon found herself with a captains cloak. Mregian captains usually supply their own ship's. Bought, stolen, or built. Clarissa decided she would go back to her hometown to dredge up an old Vernan wreckage. With help from Her family she retrofitted it with modern (at the time) weaponry, and added a full set of armour.
She decided to name it Clydesdale, after her hometown. An honour to the people that helped raise her from the depths.
The Clydesdale used to be an old Vernan steam ship, only meant for cargo hauling. It had the signature bulky and deckless style that most Vernan ship's adopted during the Unification war. With the added iron armour, 4 gydel turrets and an old but powerful main gun which was modified to give some rotation. The Clydesdale was extremely resilient.
Clarissa used this ship to singlehandedly break the Keblych blockade, stopping the Mregian fleet from getting a foothold in Rezakia.
Full steam ahead with guns blazing, the manuver would have been suicide if not for the unusual hull design and extra armour, it deflected the aging Rezakian weaponry like it was nothing. The Clydesdale literally smashed through the blockade, opening up an entry point for other ship's to follow.
Clarissa was awarded the rank of lord after the Keblych campaign. And she went on to conquer the Rezakian isles, fighting her way to them through the heavily fortified, pirate infested channel. She hunted pirates for a few years afterwards, but slowly settled down to oversee her small colony.
To this day she is a well known legendary figure.

Personal history
Clarissa had quite the spontaneous personality, always seeking a thrill or an adventure. Before joining the navy she would often trek the Nylicert wilderness, hunting or exploring war ruins.
Her escapades nearly got her killed on more than one occasion, including a run in alwith Rezakian pirates.
A small raiding party was attacking a caravan they'd caught by surprise. Clarissa has a strong set of morals, and had to intervene. She helped fight the pirates off, but got a nasty scar for it.
The caravaners thanked her and offered a ride into town, a few were killed or injured in the attack. One of the dead was a single father, who had brought his son along. He was a little younger than Clarissa. With no parent, Clarissa tried to convince her parents to adopt him.
Failing this, she found a safe spot near the factory where the boy could stay. He was called He was called Lekü.

At the turn of the century Clarissa joined the Navy. She joined a lesser kiggran lords fleet, small and willing to take most anyone that could swing a sword. She was sad to leave her friend Lekü behind, but he wasnt ready to join the navy.

Clarissa had gained experience and new skills aboard the ship she was assigned to. Her shipmates were just as crazy as she was and they got along well. Lekü joined the crew at this point. And Clarissa was overjoyed. She had gained 2 ranks, already.
2905
The war was progressing, and Clarissas' lord needed new captains to increase his fleet size. He heard great things about Clarissa, and awarded her the rank of captain. She needed to supply her own ship though. Clarissa returned to her hometown to repair and retrofit an old Vernan cargo hauler, with help from her parents and the factory workers of her town. The Clydesdale was finished just in time for a major push in the war. With Lekü as her first mate, she sailed with her lords fleet all the way to Keblych, the mouth of the world's pirate channel, guarded by a massive blockade of outdated but still tough Rezakian ship's. They outnumbered the Mregian fleet 3 to 1.
This was were Clarissa made her fame, barely a captain and on her first voyage she turned the tide of the whole war, by busting through the blockade and continuing all the away through to the Isles that lay at the end of the channel.
The year after she was awarded lordship by the Empress herself, and a very proud Kiggran lord.
Clarissa went on to take over the isles and claim them as her own. She hunted pirates for the rest of her time, even after the war. The isles slowly became populated by colonists from Nylicert, who sought adventure and riches in a fresh new frontier.
Lekü and Clarissa got married and started a family. The rest is history.
