The Archbishop of The Church of Progress

The Archbishop of The Church of Progress is easily the most influential religious leader in the entirety of Gentrov and possibly the rest of Ordia. Turstov Lundervoch is a small and portly man with thinning dark hair that comes to form a widow's peak upon his wizened forehead. Below, sunken eyes lay hidden by a strong brow lined with thick and promiscuous eyebrows that move as little as his mouth. His small, thin lips are surrounded by prominent jowls topped by pale and rotund cheeks. A prodigious chin that leads into his chicken-waddle like neck, clean shaven. He rests himself atop a throne of sorts; a large chair surrounded by tables brimming with fresh fruits, cheeses and bread, although many say that he never eats them.   Lundervoch is not a figurehead by any means. Almost every important decision is made or given by he himself. Despite his appearance and somewhat jarring demeanor, his intelligence is unmatched by most. The Church dare not question his intentions, for he has been known to shout men and women alike down to the size of ants. People often believe that his voice and words are the most powerful thing in the entirety of Gentrov, even more so than the King. It was he who tacitly worked the Church back into good relations with the crown after the several incidents that took place between the Church and the Bulwark over the past 200 or so years. He took no blame for what his predecessors had caused, for he simply made the Church's services a necessity by monopolizing medicine and the like over the past score of years. When the Queen was ousted by Berengar Gentrovich, Lundervoch made clear to members of the Church that any sort of loyalties that were once owed to the Queen are now to be that of the new King's. An example was made of the then Grand-Inquisitor and his inquisition by having them executed after finding that they still had ties to The Crownsmen, the Queen's personal army.   In light of recent events, Lundervoch has turned the Church from overbearing mage-killers and book-burners into profitable businessmen, scientists, and doctors. It was he who persistently funded and eventually bought institutions of science and medicine to further monopolize "progress" by having scholars and practitioners alike forced to join the Church and learn of its ways and history to receive their education and titles. By the year of 534, every single doctorate in Gentrov must be approved by the Church of Progress, or their licenses would be considered null. Despite the hatred of the Church among the common folk, Lundervoch has invested a vast amount of wealth and resources into completely curing the capital city of the Dhavic Plague that once killed thousands. Because of this, many goods and services have actually cheapened themselves. For example, one may purchase a potion of healing for a meager 5 crowns instead of 25 or more. With the Son's War tearing apart the majority of Ordia, Lundervoch has found ways to exploit it and profit. The Church as a whole is known for its incredible potions and alchemy. So much so that the Bulwark reluctantly purchases healing potions, advanced stimulants and drugs like Durablows from The Apothecary Hand. These feats of alchemy haven't come freely, for many soldiers - active and discharged alike - have become addicted to these substances to the point where they cannot function without them.
