TRAITS RULES

Trait Rules

What Traits Are
Traits are permanent abilities, bonuses, or quirks that define your character. Unlike skills or items, they are bound to who the character is rather than what they do. Traits can be inherited, chosen, or unlocked, and they remain consistent through play.

The Three Main Trait Types

1. Familial Trait

Bound to a lineage, family, or bloodline.

Shared between multiple players or characters in the same family.

If your character dies and you create a new one as a Next of Kin, this trait carries over.

Examples: Swordmaster’s Bloodline, Bearlike Senses, Merchant’s Guile.

2. Race Trait

Tied to your primary race.

Every member of that race begins with the same racial trait.

Examples: Dwarves gain Crafting Mastery, Elves gain Bow Affinity, Orcs gain Brute Strength.

3. Subrace Trait

Based on your character’s subrace.

More specific than race traits and reflect unique heritage or cultural quirks.

Examples: Halfling Grass-Hider, Hellion Brutal Strength, Beastfolk Swiftness.

Trait Progression & Upgrades

At every third level, you may upgrade one of your current traits, or obtain a new universal race trait. (dm chooses how strong the )
