CRAFTING RULES
Crafting Rules
Crafting in Vorrengarde Basic allows players to create equipment, tools, and items using gathered resources, schematics, and training. Success depends on both skill and wisdom, with increasing difficulty tied to the rarity or complexity of the craft.
1. Requirements for Crafting
Basic Crafting (simple weapons, tools, clothing, food, etc.):
Requires: raw materials + workstation (campfire, forge, table, etc.)
Roll: d20 vs. Wisdom
No schematic or specialization needed.
Difficult Crafting (quality gear, enhanced items, small magical gear):
Requires: raw materials + workstation + schematic or crafting specialization.
Roll: d40 vs. Wisdom.
Hard Crafting (rare gear, advanced weapons, intricate mechanisms, rune-influenced gear):
Requires: raw materials + workstation + schematic and crafting specialization.
Roll: d60 vs. Wisdom.
Nearly Impossible Crafting (legendary items, ley-touched creations, world-altering artifacts):
Requires: raw materials + workstation + schematic and crafting specialization.
Roll: d100 vs. Wisdom.
Only masters or unique conditions may allow these rolls.
2. Crafting Roll System
Pass: If your Wisdom stat is equal to or lower than the roll, the craft succeeds.
Fail: On failure, materials may be wasted or damaged depending on DM’s call:
Minor Fail (off by 1–5): Retryable with half materials.
Moderate Fail (off by 6–15): Materials destroyed.
Critical Fail (natural max roll): Workstation damage or personal injury possible.
3. Crafting Cost
Basic Items: Cost = raw material value.
Difficult Items: Cost = raw material value × 2 + schematic cost.
Hard Items: Cost = raw material value × 4 + schematic cost.
Nearly Impossible Items: Cost = raw material value × 10 + schematic cost + rare component.
Schematics: Found as loot, bought from specialists, or earned through quests. Cost varies.
4. Specializations
Without Specialization: You may only attempt Basic Crafts.
With Specialization: Unlocks Difficult and Hard Crafts in your field (blacksmith, alchemist, engineer, etc.).
Legendary Specializations: Required for Nearly Impossible Crafts.
5. Time to Craft
Basic: Hours to a day.
Difficult: 1–3 days.
Hard: 1–2 weeks.
Nearly Impossible: 1 month+ or quest-based completion.
