Money, money money

How to deal with money in M-Space

There are some purchases that do not require spending money. This can be associated with tasks or not. For example, buying ammunition for weapons costs.

Think about money as the standard amount that everyone has, plus their wealth skill. So items like ammunition come out of their standard amount of money. While bribing a corrupt guard will come out of their Wealth.

It is possible to have an individual Wealth Skill and a Party Wealth Skill. The latter is created by players donating some of their own Wealth to a party skill. As before there will be some items that are paid for by the party wealth that will not reduce the Wealth skill.

In order to gain money, players need to complete jobs. When completing the job, it is possible, on a successful negotiation roll to increase the amount of wealth by 1d4+1, with a critical success doubling the amount. A fumble means that wealth has to be reduced by 1d4+1

Commerce or Streetwise (Blackmarket Commerce)

These skills can be used to purchase illegal equipment. Players can only buy equipment up to and including the planet's TL from regular suppliers. The black-market can be used to buy any illegal equipment (check the law level) or 2 tech levels higher. The wealth skill can be used here as an augment to modify the roll.

Commerce

This skill can also be used to improve the quality of the purchase Using the wealth skill as an augment. The items bought can be of higher quality, by combining the wealth and commerce roll where feasible. If the skill is a fumble then the wealth roll is reduced by 1d4+1 (rolled by the player)

Availability of items

This is a random roll that can be adjusted by luck. For illegal goods, at the same TL there is a 50% chance of the item being available. This is decreased by 10% for each increase in a tech level.

Delivery time:

This again is a random roll done by the players. A 1d6 is rolled. For the same TL this will be in hours, +1 in days and +2 in weeks.
