Mirey Island

The Mirey Island is a swampy island off the southern coast of the Main Continent of Voktegård. It was originally home only to Solbrun people, but is now multicultural due to trade routes and the presence of The Vault of Deeper Knowledge.

Locations

Capital: North Mire

Other places of interest: South Mire, Vault's Fen, The Vault of Deeper Knowledge.

Laws

The Mirey Island holds to the Four Accords. In addition, all humanoid corpses are burned and any livestock are butchered immediately, punishable by a period of community service or indentured servitude. If a failure to burn results in anyone's death by undead, the ones responsible may be tried for violating the First Accord.

The creation of basements, cellars, bunkers, or any digging beyond 4 feet is punishable in a similar manner.

It is a Monarchy ruled by the Gameltblodt family. King Cynnig currently sits on the throne.

Economy

The Mirey Island is relatively prosperous for such a small nation. Part of the reason for this is that much of the island is actually unpopulated, with only two major cities, one notable town, and various solitary "swamp witches" dotting the landscape. The other part of the reason is the role of North Mire as a port town for trade ships.

On the Mirey Island, gold coins are still the standard and PHB prices are normal. Land can be owned by citizens under special dispensations from the King. Businesses can be owned by citizens but must be registered with and taxed by the government. Trade is regulated by the North Mire Market Marshalls, a division of the Mirey Navy that employs Divination Wizards to investigate commercial crimes.
