Wrath of Vitcoona

General Information

In extremely rare circumstances, the actions of the residents of Vitcoona require a reaction from Vitcoona herself. These circumstances are thankfully extremely rare, but when they do come about, then the Wrath of Vitcoona is unleashed. Many refer to this unleashing as the manifestation of a cataclysm. Truly, the Wrath of Vitcoona leaves little in its wake. There has only been one massive scale cataclysm. Smaller, local manifestations of Wrath are common enough that it is generally known that Vitcoona will smite those who antagonize her.

Triggers

There are three activities that will trigger Wrath of Vitcoona: weakening The Barrier, performing large scale Necromancy, and corrupting a Pylon.

Weakening The Barrier

The weakening of The Barrier is when an individual or a group of Magi work to thin out the Mana Field surrounding Vitcoona. This thinning often leads to Demnoss being able to make landfall. Such direct invasions by Demnoss are normally impossible, and the invaders take advantage of the occasions when the planet is vulnerable. Vitcoona fights back against these Incursions violently. She not only wreaths the invading Demnoss with fire, but she will also throw storms, eruptions, earthquakes, and any other violent upheaval of the natural order to destroy the invaders. Usually, the Magi who caused the Incursion are destroyed in the crossfire between Vitcoona and the Demnoss invaders. In the few cases where the Magi escape, they always tell tales of horrific weather and screeching nightmares being destroyed in fire and fury.

Large Scale Necromancy

Vitcoona is thankfully much more subtle in her resistance to Necromancy. Necromantic Energy is a by-product of decaying organic matter, and there are cases where the dead are reaniamated simply by so many corpses being in close proximity. These wild Undead are typically destroyed without the direct action of Vitcoona herself, but in the even a Necromancer triggered the creation of an Undead Scourge, he will find himself on the receiving end of the Wrath of Vitcoona. For Necromancers, Wrath comes to them in the form of the degradation of their hordes. The more Undead in an area, the more energy it takes to ward off the leeching of the Black Mana that fuels them. If a Necromancer is not able to maintain the shielding of his minions, he will find that he has fewer of them to maintain.

Corrupting a Pylon

Corrupting a Pylon is a truly heinous act. Pylons have a symbiotic relationship with the land and creatures around them. Should a Pylon be corrupted successfully, the resulting surge of Black Mana will poison the region. Black Pylons are almost impossible to create, but evil-doers still try. Vitcoona resists Pylon Corruption almost as violently as she resists Incursions. To attempt corrupting a Pylon is to attempt suicide. There have never been survivors from the Wrath Vitcoona unleashes on would-be corrupters, this makes attempts at Corruption rare, but there are always a few who think they are the exception.

Manifestation

Wrath of Vitcoona appears as blue fire attached directly to whatever her intended target is. Vitcoona never misses, and her fire will destroy whatever it is aimed at eventually. Even the mightiest of Demnoss will eventually yield to Wrath. It is also notable that beings resistant or even immune to Fire are still consumed by Wrath. There are none who scoff at the Wrath of Vitcoona, at least none who know anything about its nature.

Localization

The only large scale unleashing of Wrath occurred when a nation of Men attempted to summon a Grand Incursion. Vitcoona utterly annihilated the people, cities, and land where the summoning rituals occurred. The aftermath created the wasteland known only as The Blight. There were survivors though. These Landless went out into the world to preach caution about incurring the planet's Wrath, and they are wholly dedicated to thwarting any further attempts at summoning Demnoss.
