Foreword:
Magic is one of the most central aspects of our world. It is found in the plants, animals, and especially the people of this world. You will nary find someone who does not use it within their daily lives. It can be found deep underground as well as in the highest reaches of mountains. Of all the civilizations of my study, of which is not a small list, both ancient and modern, all use magic in some form. From my study, I have yet to find a comprehensive study of magic beyond some that show more specific examples of it within the world. My various years of study of this strange force make me wish for said comprehensive study and some may call it an unnecessary breakdown of our understanding of magic. But I believe it will be extramental in expanding our study of it and how it has affected every society for as long as has been recorded. I shall also cover the most recent breakthroughs in magic, though, if I keep searching for new breakthroughs I fear this tome will never be released. For any who wish to understand magic in all of its known forms, I hope this book is a good start for your own research, and may it lead you to be the next generation of sorcerers, unlike anything our world has seen before. Thank you for your time and good studying.
Magic: Its Origin
Magic being the most fundemental aspect of our world has many supossed origin. Though it may never be known which origin is its true one I shall list some of the most popular understandings. These heavily tie into the culture of those you ask as well as many aspects of ones life which they hold to be true. I shall however list them in the order of likelyhood based on my understanding of magic.Godly Magic
Nearly every soceity I have encountered has placed magic as originating from one or many gods. The origin story of how magic was given to the world or how the gods use magic varies greatly between cultures it seems clear that it is told in nearly every holy book that it was gift to the people of this world. This is the most widely accepted source of magic though recently this thought has been brought into question with recent research at MAGIC SCHOOL / RESEARCH LOCATION that presents a compelling but not researched origin.Heat Magic
It is known by any who try it that magic is weaker at night except during special events such asAurora / Moon Events. Therefore some have theorized that Umbra itself gives us a large portion of our magic. There is also reports of enhanced magic at certain locations Volcanic & Hot Spring Locations of which extreme heat is located. Most living beings give off some amount of heat from their bodies. It has been theorized that magic may somehow be connected directly with heat. Whether that be the heat of the Umbra or that of Vita'ul, or possibly some combination of the two. Whilst this theory is in its infacy it is possibly better explained by the gods simply sleeping during the night as anyone must do or perhaps the gods choose to radiate magic from these sources themselves. Though it is always important to question the origin of magic so we may better understand it.Magic of Oneself
It has been theoriezed that maybe life itself is the source of magic. This is widely held by those who live on the outside of soceity deep within the Jungle location/ druid types and its people. As they live more closely with nature and use the magics of nature, of which I will cover in more detail below, they claim that living creatures themselves are the source of magic. There has yet to be a creature discovered who does not use magic of some sort, though it is unlikely that all magic spontaneously forms within creatures as magical events can been seen happening outside of the influence of living creatures. How Magic Works
