The Black Rift

The Black Rift is a wealthy city state to the West beyond Bera's Bracers. The city is named after the deep ravine that cuts the city in half and through which Old Blood River runs.
The source of the wealth and power of the Black Rift is trade. Existing at a crossroads close to both Teolihullo and Tagizdam, the Black Rift has always been a busy hub of trade and smuggling.
The Black Rift has also been made wealthy by all of the vice it has to offer for the entertainment of the throngs of traders and other travelers it hosts at any given time. Gambling in all kinds of forms is legal and ubiquitous. Alcohol and various drugs, legal and illegal are easily found. So called red houses offer carnal pleasures aplenty.
The Black Rift used to be the most powerful human neighbour of Tagizdam and led by its own city council, known as the Golden Court. However, after its victory in the Mirror's Edge War, Tagizdam weakened the Court significantly. While it still runs the city's daily matters, it can be bypassed or overruled by the royal court of Tagizdam at any time.
