Prologue: You Had So Much To Show Me
General Summary
- Thawsayer enters Loro's room in the clinic only to find the window broken and Loro gone; a nurse named Jen lays dead and drained of blood
- Thaw tells the bright dwarf doctor, Stoman Stieff and Cecil, who alerts Vivian and Vergil
- Vivian wakes to find a white ceramic mask on her face with eyeholes and a glowing blue gem
- Vergil hears news about bodies found in the Indi U library and sends a message to Cecil via Credo the gyrfalcon familiar; Cecil finds that the bodies have fang wounds that leak venom, and their eyes have been sewn open and have no pupils or irises but instead a bright purple sclera
- They seem to have come from the catacombs beneath the library
- The mask begins to pulse and ring when Vivian gets to the clinic, directing her to the corpse; Vivian places the mask on the nurse's face and it begins to glow and project a hologram of two robed figures with the same eyes as the library corpses smashing the window, killing the nurse, and leaving with Loro
- Vivian takes the mask and follows the figures to a door in the city, where they use their fingers as keys and enter a building; she gets Thawsayer and they get some pig feet to use instead of fingers
- Cecil checks in with Gan, who is fine but decides to go to Indi to check on him
- Gan says everyone knows about the catacombs, and that past the third floor you start "meeting the locals", though there isn't anyone who's met them and come back
- Thaw and Vivian enter through the darkened doorway and find themselves in a rainy forest by a red ocean with large iron rods jutting out of it connected by thick spiderwebs; the sky is dark with splotches of white, and there are large spiderlings in the webs floating jellyfish in the sky, and large basking sharks in the water
- The familiars follow the path down the catacombs and come across the long-dead bodies of soldiers in armor, and one in a cloak
- They find a portal that looks the same as the one Vivian and Thawsayer went through; Iamb goes through it and finds himself in the Spidergarden on a different pillar, with a large structure in between him and the other group
- Cecil, Vergil, and Gan go through the catacombs and pass by the large snake, which watches them curiously, and then enter the portal to rejoin Iamb
- The two groups reunite by the tower after briefly struggling against the harsh winds, but as they head towards it though a forest, they encounter Aitai Nikia, a winter djinni who stands with their eyes closed
- They are wearing baggy orange-brown pants, a tube top, and sandals, and when they open their eyes, the left one is revealed to be the Quantum Eye
- Gan seems to recognize this, and starts quietly casting; Iamb also begins to sneak in from the other side
- The rest of the group distract Aitai, and learn that the Spidergarden is their womb, by which they will be reborn
- They had their people take Loro, whom they call the "vessel of the catalyst", to the tower where their materials of rebirth are kept, because his conneciton to the Violet will help them forge their own connection, which they can use to find a dragon's soul and absorb it
- Vivian asks about the mask, but though Aitai seems very interested, they don't seem to know what it is
- Gan paralyzes Aitai while they're distracted, but after only a few seconds, they start to break free, and both Vivian and Vergil lose the ability to float
- When Gan cast the spell, a dome formed around Nikia formed of the rain that stopped when it hit a radius
- As we attack them, they shift the world around them and seem to stretch porportions oddly
- Gan tells us to run and come back with help, but we refuse to leave her
- Nikia grabs Gan's arm and Pickle the cassowaries' neck, and they start to fade to grey, and Gan rips her greying arm off (left arm)
- Renee uses a Rift Break
- We rush to the cliff to escape; Nikia seems to sense the Rift Break in some capacity and hitches a ride on Cecil as he hauls Gan away
- Nikia says Gan knows where to get a dragon's soul
- We all jump into the "water" (Nikia included)
- Nikia says they need two of us (including Loro) to stay
- Cecil knocks Nikia into the Void, and the world goes black
- We find ourselves in a dark space that fades into a cylindrical room of gilded wood with a giant bright white tiger with colorless eyes named Styx, who is one of the great Fae; Gan is not there
- Styx says Gan may have gone back to the material plane and that they'll be in touch
- We wake around a campfire being tended to by a coeth man with tan skin, vitiligo, black hair, and dark green eyes
