Chapter V: It All Returns To Nothing
General Summary
- Gendd's eyes are completely purple, and he tries to attack us, but seems to be fighting against himself
- He floats in the air, and we hear Loro's voice say, "I'm sorry", before he flies off towards Roos
- We rush through the water as fog gathers, and we see purple lights and a pair of purple eyes as a wraith approaches
- We try to run past it, but appear back in front of it, and there is a large shadow circling us in the fog that was the source of the eyes
- As we fight it, more wraiths appear, and the silhouette erupts from the water and reveals itself to be a fogsire
- We defeat the ruinborn and head into the Megalio, which is dangerously silent and filled with strange piles of bark and leaves
- Eventually, Thawsayer hears a heartbeat, and we enter a clearing with a large, ancient maple tree with purple cracks and the body of Ald'Seit fused into it; the eye sockets glow purple
- Thawsayer runs up to the tree with the fang, but is stopped by the thing possessing Gendd, who asks why we are resisting its love
When Thawsayer tells it that its love hurts, it says that it will instead exert its full control and turns Gendd's body back into its "original form", LoroCecil teleports Thaw to the nymph, but Loro paralyzes him before he can stab the fangWhen Cecil attacks the nymph with Blight, the tree, Loro, and Thawsayer all take rot damage- Avery uses a Rift Break
- Thawsayer tries to talk to and understand Ald'Seit, who explains that it is trying to have everything become one to abolish conflict and pain
- As it transforms into Loro, Cecil teleports Thaw to the tree, and he stabs the fang in
- The purple cracks recede; Ald'Seit comments that its vessel won't let it kill us, and it attacks and summons wraiths and wisps
- Thawsayer continues to try to push the fang into the tree, and Ald'Vees, Ald'Thost, and Ald'Cras shows up and help
- After a rough battle, the fang fully clicks in, and the purple glow from the tree and Loro fades; Loro drops to the ground
- He tells us he enjoyed travelling with us again and passes out
- Ald'Seit emerges from the tree, root-body in a feline form, and runs off
- Thawsayer buries the fang in the ground beneath the roots of the maple tree, and feels a gracious warmth
- We return to the ship and gather our people
- Loro never wakes and goes to Klaska'in for medical care; Thawsayer goes with him
- Sin Tak, Tal Voss, and a new red king rise to power; Sin Tak does not end up invading the Empire
- Endsland is briefly the seat of power for the League before Kier is rebuilt, and For Xath becomes a more significant outpost to the greater archipelago
- The amber trade continues but is managed by the triarchy instead as the Tai'Jei Company is nationalized
- Gada Shion and Therin return to the mainland; Warui Hito is never found
- Kilind and Vivian return to the Empire together, though Kilind has to travel to and from Avarok to do her shaman duties
- Cecil and Vergil take Gan back to Indi and continue to study at the University
- Gan and everyone else forget their false memories of Gendd from before the willful crossing
