Ptettell
Why do I have to do this? They are the scientists, they already know a ton about Ptettells. A lot more than I ever will anyway, so why in all of CytalCytal are they wasting my time when I could be doing my job instead. They don’t need another report or journal or document on it. Uugghh… Well, if they want me to do this so badly, then so be it. You want to know what a Ptettell is, I’ll tell you.
Appearance:
As far as I can tell the name Ptettell is what they call the flowery part. You know, the bit that pokes out of the ground in the middle of dark forests. I know for a fact it grows in The Great Forest but I’ve heard a couple of the scientists talk about it growing in other parts of the world. Maraleye and a few select parts of Hoarwae too. When you do manage to find one, it sticks out like a sore thumb with its brightly coloured orange and yellow shaded petals. Quite big as well for a plant, so big that you need both hands to carry it around. And when you get a whiff of one, by the ancient ones it’s a potent. Sweet smelling but not like a pleasant sweet, more like the overwhelming kind that starts to burn your nose. I’m not a fan but I know I’m in the minority on that one. Yeah, not much else to say for the look of it. Almost pretty if you leave it undisturbed. But the scientists here would never do that, it’s quite useful for their curse healing and potion brewing.Uses:
Now I won’t claim to know exactly how they intend to use each part of the petal but I do know a couple things for sure. The first is that those colourful petals I mentioned, that’s the main thing their after. Used to make love potions, strong ones too. Must be something to do with the smell of them. I heard they can also make a special drink that makes you immune to psychic magic or being hypnotized by others, pretty handy I’d say. Then there are the roots of the flower, more specifically the sap. Yeah, that stuff is nasty looking but is pretty useful in potions that let you talk to plants. I watched a pair of scientists get excited when they started chatting to the veg in the green house, can’t say I wanted to join in. Oh, and the thorns are added to some of the antidotes. I can’t remember which ones, quite a few of them. But not particularly common ingredient ‘cause the thorns only come from one part of the plant. Well actually, it doesn’t come from the plant at all, rather that giant worm they can grow out in the wild. The Beast Inside:
I bet you’re probably thinking, what is he on about? It’s a flower, what’s all this talk about giant worms. Well, let’s just say this is more my area of expertise. In my time hunting monsters there is nothing more terrifying than the Ptettell worm. Usually given birth when the roots of a bunch of the flowers grow near each other in the wild. The roots begin to get knotted with each other and end up breeding this giant worm like creature. From the ones I’ve seen I’d say they are anywhere between 2ft and 10ft long with skin made of hardened roots. When it strikes its prey it launches itself out of the ground and chomps down with its mouth full of thorns. Like I said, terrifying to encounter and difficult to kill. I wouldn’t want to get caught by one of them with my pants down. And anyone willing to try find one of these worms is crazy, so I guess that includes Professor Amerin. Either way, I would avoid them at all costs if I didn’t work here.Actions:
