Ptettell Buds

Hidden in the thick forests that scatter Cytal and Ascor, there grows a beautiful and colourful plant that gives birth to a dangerous monster that haunts the nightmares of alchemists. But it also holds a key ingredient for a variety of unique potions, enchantments and curses when prepared in the right way. All of this is and more refers to the plant called Ptettell Buds.

Dangerous thing those buds... While vital to the research they can't into the forests alone. That's why I'm here, to protect Healers when needed. Which is more often than you would think.

Appearance:

Spotting one of these buds is an easy task, As they grow in some of the darkest parts of thick forests and stand out due to their brightly coloured leaves of yellow, orange and red against the usual green and brown hues of nature. The bud itself sticks out the ground, fitting neatly in the palms of an adult. At the top of this teardrop shaped plant, sprouts a small vine with a bell flower sagging on the end. If untouched, the Ptettell bud gives off a strong but pleasant smell, often described as sweet.

Uses:

The plant itself can be used for a number of different things. The bell flower can be boiled down into love potions or crushed into obsession enchantments like seduction and craving. The brightly coloured leaves of the outer bud can be chopped and diced into an unusual potion, giving the user the ability to communicate with plants. And the sap from inside the plant can be used to create powerful poisons or antidotes depending on the intentions of the prepper. A plant that would be extremely popular for alchemists, botanists and enchanting blacksmiths if it wasn't for the monster that they spawn.

Plant Monstrosity:

The bud itself is not harmful, however if left to grow for too long gives life to the plant based life from known as Ptettell. A carnivorous creature that can paralyse and hypnotise its prey through the use of its aroma before shredding it inside its thorn like throat, absorbing its nutrients for itself. Only skilled heroes and adventurers are capable of going head to head with these horrors of nature which is why they are often hired if someone is in desperate need for the bud.

Potential Plot Hook: Time is of the essence, a shipment of Ptettell Buds need transporting to Sianwood but the cart transporting them has just crashed. They need to be delivered before the creatures bloom and get free of their glass jars. You have two days before that happens.

Actions:

Aroma - The pleasant smell of the bud bursts from the flowers putting creature in a state confusion. Effect that causes the target to become charmed, unable to attack the user.
Whip - The strands of vine and root slash through the air in an uncontrollable manner. 1d6 melee damage, chance to cause bleeding on a critical roll.
