Midnight Fig
[breadcrumbs]
Commonly found in gardens across the realms, the midnight fig is a fruit that originated from the realm of fairies. Ripening only in the light of a full moon.
Growth:
Starting life as a simple grey green coloured shrub that grows 4ft tall before spreading out in all directions. The shrubs are naturally found growing on the outer edges of the warmest woods and forests, somewhere which gives the shrub enough space to grow and feel the effect of changing temperatures between day and night, typically growing in the months where the sun shines brightest. Many races such as fairies, elves and sorcerers keep one or two of these shrubs in their gardens, making them a common sight. Overtime blossoming with pale blue buds that, when nurtured properly, grow into the blue skinned fruit. On the night of a full moon, the protective petals unveil the fig ready to be harvested. If the fruit have not been collected by the next morning, the fig begins to shrivel up and dry out and drop off. Ready for new ones to grow in the next cycle of the moon.Appearance:
Upon gazing at the fruit, it can be described as having a deep blue skin, with a lush purple flesh peppered with pips. If the pips are scooped out and heated in a pan for a minute, then they can be eaten as a light snack. Conversations with creatures of the fairy realm say the midnight fig is a favourite food for Sprites and measures have to be taken to ensure they do not steal from their gardens.Hmm? I don't like them at all, in fact I would go as far as to say I hate them. But not as much as my friend Sellia. Although she does seem to like many strange things. Just the other day she gave me this baked treat and I said to her, what is it? And she replied...
